    APR Turbo Muffler Delete?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have done some research on these and I've heard mixed things. I would really like to be able to hear the turbo and it sounds like that is the ultimate goal of this product. I will be getting an intake regardless which will help a lot as far as sound goes. My question to you guys is, is the APR muffler delete worth it?

I would say you get more sound out of the intake. I installed the CTS Turbo muffler delete along with their silicone hoses w/ the stock intake. Certainly an increase in sound but not as much as cars I've heard with an intake. I'll be adding an intake so I get even more noise.

I bought mine a few weeks before putting on my APR intake. It did increase the whistle a bit, but I wasn't happy with what it gave me, and that's what led me to the intake. I haven't ran the intake without the muffler delete to tell how much of a difference that made over the other, but I can say with both of them it sounds amazing! It's a head turner without running a louder exhaust.

I purchased this, I liked the design of this muffler delete vs others because the 2 piece design ensures no gaps in fitment.

The Eurocode Silicon Hose kit is on sale right now, and it comes with their turbo adapter included. It's only $20 more than the single APR piece.

I'd spend my money on that instead.

Ditto to that. If you are going to get one, I'd go that route also.

I have one installed on my car. I had the APR intake before I had the turbo muffler delete. After the install, you could hear the turbo A BIT more but nothing drastic. The intake is better for that IMO. If you really want people to know you have a turbo, just get a blowoff valve.

Never put a BOV on the 2.0t if you run 100% recirc the engine runs rough as.

For the uninitiated, care to explain this? Looking into this purchase as well for kicks, but don't wanna screw something up.

The 2.0T in the A4 uses a MAF sensor to measure incoming air. A blowoff valve allows metered air to exit the system and thus will throw off the air fuel ratio and cause your engine to not run properly.

For that reason, it's recommended that you stick with a recirculating diverter valve.

In place of a Blow-off Valve, would a DV Spacer suffice for the recirculation but also provide a bit of the BOV sound? Or would the Spacer still classify as a BOV since it is allowing a bit of air escape?

DV spacers that vent 100% to atmosphere are shit, you need a 50/50 to even run the car properly

Put a 3" Test Pipe of your choice, CTS 3" Downpipe w/3" Magnaflow 11219 Race Muffler (in place of the stock resonator), AWE 2.5" downpipe back with Quad Tips and call it a day.
Definitely louder, but not annoyingly so, pretty quiet at highway speeds (~110KM/hr and up), aggressively louder when under load.

I love my setup...especially the gurgling "backfire" sound on deceleration at low RPM's...like the late model Lambo's and Ferrari's...

Reviving this thread as I have some questions. I'm looking for a better sound from my A4 in addition to the performance I gained when installing Stage 2 EC Testpipe. The general consensus in this thread is that I would get better results with an intake and new muffler than getting the turbo muffler delete? I am also considering a magaflow system but these are much more expensive. In general I want to hear my car a little more, in particular the turbo.

Would appreciate any opinons with a view to 'bang for buck'. Thanks :)

If you're going for sound, THIS is the best bang for your buck. You can check out some sound clips from this video

Does it come with the Ferrari? Care to share your thoughts on the intake you have?

I bought mine when it first came out and before they released the Luft-Technik (the one without the CF enclosure). Performance-wise its no noticable difference. The sounds is fine. I actually wish it wasn't quite as loud, but that's a personal preference. Looking back, I probably wouldn't buy it again. I would just buy a drop in and an inlet hose.

But if you're looking for the noise, I think the non-CF version is probably a pretty good bet from what I've read. It's also a lot cheaper than the one I bought.

Thanks - I did a little more research and your comments seem to mirror what others have mentioned. I have actually just brought the following components for around $100.

    MagnumFLOW Pro-Dry Air Filter
    Silicone Turbo Inlet Hose

I don't think I will get increased noise but some folks on here seem to think that the performance / response is noticeable enough to warrant the purchase. I guess I'll find out next week :)
