Help me identify this piece

Hey guys, long time lurker here hoping someone could help me out. I was driving around today and started hearing a weird rubbing sound in my front passenger wheel well. When i got home, I pulled off the wheel and looked around. Seems like the clip on the axle boot was rubbing against a heat shield which I pushed down on a bit and the rubbing stopped. Cool, problem solved but then I noticed a chunk of metal broken off just laying there. Upon further inspection I found this.







That's the passenger wheel well. I tried to take the best pictures I could. I have no idea what the heck this piece is anyone have any ideas?

Is it part of the piece that has the "KTS" letter molded into it?

Is that an engine mount? I remember hearing/reading something about a broken mount. It's hard to tell from that picture. I would surely stop driving it and get it to the dealership. Are you still covered under warranty? Seems like a chunk of metal falling off should be covered.

Looking at the pic, I believe Joker is right. Looks like the engine mount has cracked.

I thought motor mount also last night when looking at it. That's crazy if it is.

Definitely looks like a motor mount now that you point it out. I bought the car in March 4 years ago....so I'm either just out of warranty or just barely in it. Off to the dealer I go....

Damn, yeah that looks like a motor mount. Only time I've cracked a mount is hitting a gigantic hole in the road at 50 mph.

Well, it was a motor mount and I was out of warranty by about two weeks so they wouldn't cover it....pretty shitty if you ask me. Anyway, I've fixed it and at this point I'm thinking it's time to get out of this car because who knows what else is going on under there. That being said, I'm looking for a bit of a change. Not sure what direction to go. Looking at the following (pre-owned).

2014 rs5
2014 s6
2014 c63 amg

Don't know what I'm going to do yet. What do you guys think? My budget is trade in plus like 30k

Lol..figures.. I read the first post like 10 times to make sure I didn't miss if he mentioned it. I had already read this thread when it was originally posted so I didn't go through all the replies again.

Bought it in 2012 new. Was hoping to get another few years out of it truthfully but my general rule is once things start going wrong, it's time to jump ship before something big hits.

Well, yea, I agree a motor mount isn't a huge deal. I think this just turned into a good way for me to rationalize an upgrade :)

2014 with a bit over 12k miles. The wheels are HRE's....I think P101.

It's got the driver assist and black optics package. And a nice surprise under the hood



I have a feeling that it might have been tuned and the dealer wiped it considering all the random goodies I found on it.

I'll be tuning it next week. I absolutely love the sound of the v8 already.

I was equally suspicious. Car is immaculate, a stone chip or two in the hood but that's about it. My mechanic spent two hours looking it over so I'm about as confident as I can be in a used car without personally knowing the previous owner.
