Stupid Inspection Reminder - Go Away?

I opted not to pay the local dealer for my 15k "inspection" and had the actual work (oil change, cabin filter, etc.) done at my local lube shop.

So they reset the Oil Change reminder, because you can do that in Car Settings. Apparently, however, you can't do that with the Inspection reminder.

So... Do I absolutely need to spring for VCDS to do this, and - what's everyone using these days? Back when I had my B7, everyone was using Ross-Tech.

You need VAGCOM/VCDS for it. I had a buddy with it reset it and set the counter for it to 60,000 miles or whatever the max is so I won't have to deal with it for a long time.
