When you turn the car off to hear an electronic/motor noise of some sort. I really only hear it when I turn my car off in my garage. I end up hearing a weird noise. Not sure if it's just what turbo engines do (my first turbo car) or it's something that the s3 does or it's something I need to take my new car back to Audi for.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

coolant circulation to cool your turbo. "turbo timer", "after-run coolant pump".

It's normal. I think it's an electric pump cooling things off. Mine does it too.

It's a different sound than the parking brake adjusting as the brakes cool off. The first time I noticed it, I though the noise was a back up alarm in the distance. I made a video clip, but recently change phones. I'll see if I can find the clip.

It almost sounds like R2D2 when I turn off my car. I personally like it lol, it sounds like I'm walking away from a space ship or something. Is it normal... well its running fine. Whats funny is that MK6 R sounded like Darthvader when I turn on my AC...(no I am not a Star Wars fan)

Are you sure it isn't oil circulation? I know turbos have the engine going through it. A turbo timer usually kept the car running a couple so the oil wouldn't fry inside the turbo. Unless these newer turbo have coolant flowing the turbo, then I stand corrected.

Our turbos use coolant and oil.
As to what the noise is, I know its a pump, whether is the oil or coolant pump, not sure.

    I think it's coolant only.

Really? What lubricates the spinning internals?

The idea is to prevent cooking the oil, cooling the turbo down with coolant circulation seems like enough, but I'm no tech. Audi techs? Chime in please.

After the motor is shut off the turbo spins down fairly quickly.

Yes, our turbos use both, coolant and oil.
There is still lubrication needed for the bearings, and turbo internals when the car is running ..... Is this a serious conversation right now?
