1985 Merkur XR4Ti…Great car…reliable even though the turbo glowed red at night. 90,000 miles when sold.
1991 Ford Escort GT…reliable and fun while living downtown Chicago for 80,000 miles when sold.
1992 Toyota MR2 Turbo…simply put…I never should have sold this car. Big mistake. 115,000 miles when sold.
1997 Acura CL 3.0…boring…burned oil like crazy at 125,000 miles when sold.
1998 Chevrolet Corvette...Still own it. Have not had one repair outside of my 3 year warranty. 44,000 miles.
2001 Toyota Avalon Limited…more boring but job necessitated this car. 70,000 miles when sold.
2002 Ford Explorer V8….Great vehicle for a starting family. 80,000 miles when sold.
2003 Infiniti G35…Infiniti attack on 3 series. Transmission issues at 120,000 miles when sold.
2006 GMC Acadia…Water leaks, transmission issues, weak engine. Sold it after 9 months. 13,000 miles when sold.
2006 Nissan Armada…went through tires and brakes every 15,000 miles. 60,000 miles when sold.
2006 Infiniti M45…bulletproof except for a front wheel bearing. Burning oil at 110,000 miles when sold.
2008 VW GTI DSG…Wife went to rehab…I bought this (used) for myself while she was spending our money ‘rehabilitating’. Such a fun car to drive. I let her have it in the divorce. Giving up that car was one of the toughest decisions I have ever made.
2009 Ford Expedition Limited. For what it was…gigantic SUV…it was perfect in every way. Yes, I would buy another.
2010 Audi S4 Prestige DSG…replaced a door sensor. Owned for 150K. Never burned oil. Ran as new when I sold it. This car started my passion for Audi’s and VW’s. 150,000 miles when sold.
2013 Mercedes SLK…remarried and she brought this into the relationship. I didn’t fit in it…but nice, reliable car. 30,000 miles when lease came up.
2013 Ford Flex Ecoboost Limited…Reliable…fast…nice handler. Loaded w/ options. 50,000 miles when sold.
2015 Mercedes GL 350 Bluetech…probably the most problematic vehicle I have ever owned. But wow…fun to drive…diesel engine is entertaining. Luxury. Smooth. It’s such a conflicting relationship. Currently 22,000 miles.
2016 Audi S6 Prestige…almost 30,000 trouble free miles on it so far.

I have all you guys BEAT!!

On December 31 1993, I bought a Toyota Camry, paid $21,000 out the door. Man I was hot shit. I went for the upgraded wheels instead of ABS brakes. Apparently I would rather look cool than be safe.

Somehow I managed to put 297,000 miles on that car and never needed the ABS brakes OR the 1 airbag!! Other than standard repair and replacement parts, I never put any big money in it. Talk about reliable!!

So here I am 23 years later, with plenty of time to save money, driving a fully loaded S7. OMG!!

Needless to say I went from a very humble regular run-of-the-mill driver to a "car snob" overnight.

Everyone of you guys on this thread has made incremental moves to very nice cars.

I came from the slums and now living at the top of the Waldorf-Astoria.

Love the view.

1985 : VW Golf, Wolfsburg Edition : Silver, then painted black : First car. The thing was awesome, abused, and loved by all of my friends. Not to mention, I had an incredible sound system.

00 Honda Civic EX Coupe -Silver speed demon; needed more room.
00 Honda Accord EX V6 (The Mrs.) -Got it right off lease at 30k miles; drove it well over 200k. Sold to a family member
04 Acura MDX -Had this car the longest of them all; low maintenance and driven hard to 175k.
10 Audi Q5 3.2 (The Mrs.) -First exposure to the 4rings. CPO Prem+ with Offroad package. Kids drove it to be traded.
11 Audi A4 2.0T -First new car ever. Prem+ in Teak Brown; Traded due to a great deal
10 Audi A6 3.0T -CPO Prestige and loaded. Awesome deal. Loved it until yet a another great deal.
10 Audi Q7 TDI (The Mrs.) -CPO Prestige, Just a big fancy Q5 but with the TDI. A true beast on the road, and now we all know why
