    Audi S5 Coilover installation Labor?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am assuming Audi S5 coilover install is same or very similar to every other car? But i am getting quoted some ridiculous amount by 2 shops now.

One said $600 and another said $500. I don't have a garage or i'd take a crack at it but i've installed them on an Evo before and it was rather quick and straightforward.
My friend with a S2000 just got them installed at a Honda Shop for $180. I was thinking i'd be paying around $300 since the Audi brand but wasn't expecting $600.

What's the average price you guys have seen for coilover install?

600 is about what I was quoted for coilovers. Remember not all coilovers and suspension setups are the same. The B8 chassis uses a multi link suspension setup which is a little more complicated and hence takes more shop time.

Edit: just went back and checked I ended up paying $400 but I was told at the time the shop owner misquoted me because he wasn't aware it was more complicated. They honored the price anyways but it should have been more.

    Audi S5 Coilover installation Labor?

Not an S5 but to compare, I paid $255 to install coil overs on my A7. That's of course was in addition to the cost of the coil overs themself.

I'd have to dig out my invoice but I want to say labor was around $300 or so. Definitely not anywhere near $600.

I paid $300 but the shop said it took a lot longer than anticipated. They honored the price. He said he would prob charge around $400-$450 if he had to do it over.

Glad to say i did it myself :) like all the other mods. Definitely took me longer as I ran into some difficulties with the used coilovers I bought on the forums from a dishonest SHIT user on here. I had to re dye the top thread... long story. I can say that I did my BMW 3 series coilovers in half the time.

Anyways DIY! But I'd expect $450-$500 that is what I was quoted.

I paid $150 for mine - but most shops will charge an hour labor per corner on average.

In San Diego $300 billed at 2 hours of labor @ $150/hour. Plus alignment for $79

I'd say $350 is the median. Anything more than $450 is a rip IMO.

Seems like there's quite a bit of regional variation as well. OP, just keep calling around to see if you can get a better price.

I paid $350 originally in NJ at an accredited shop to install H&R coils, I paid $280 to install H&R springs. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, make sure you choose a place that guarantees their work and has good reviews. I will never make that mistake again of trying to save a couple dollars to find out they did a shoddy job.

On the other end, I called to get a quote for installing springs on my Audi here in SoCal and it's all over the place. The big name shops around here are almost price gouging asking like $600-700 for an install on springs, which is ridiculous. Talk to local Audi owners and I'm sure you'll find a reputable shop at a fair price!

3-3.5 Hrs labor quote (excluding alignment) would be fair enough for any tuning shop

Out of 4 shops 500 was the cheapest.
Must be a chicago thing. Anyways, i don't consider Coilover installation to be worth $500 + $Allignment so i'll be doing it myself in a friends Garage.. unless i find another shop that'll do it for around 300.

Couldn't find the invoice last night but I honestly don't think that it was more than $350. It's a haul for me as well...about a 45 minute drive. I will say that I put about $3k into the car day one though so I could be off a bit on the price. Worth a call though and it is a great shop.

    Audi S5 Coilover installation Labor?

Ouch! Sorry about that, I really thought that I paid less but I was spending quite a bit on the car at the time so I guess that it fell into the "noise".

No worries - I decided to go with GRD Tuned in West Chicago.
Was quoted $400 and they have done a fair amount of work on B8s.

Apologies for reviving an old thread but, I was looking at getting the Bilstein B16 with the IRC module installed on my S5. Rennology in Oak Forest, IL quoted me $1500 to do it with corner balancing and alignment. I almost fell over. Anyone know of any other reputable shops in the south Chicago/burbs or NW IN area that could do this work?

Wish I was more familiar with the Audi platform but try GRD like the guy above. Other known Chicagoland shops that may still be able to do it: ABMotoring, Fluid Motor Union, AMS.

I was qouted 750-800 to install springs from several shops in the bay area. My brother in law who owns a shop did mine in two hours for 200 bucks. He said it was a fairly easy job and doing the rears only took 30 minutes which included dropping the subframe.

Interesting, in Ontario the highest I've seen is $300 to install my coil overs, my mechanic does it for 200 & a case of beer
