    Opinions on a CPO 2015 S3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I currently own a 2015 GLI and am trying to get VW to buy it back due to having a lot of issues. I was looking at getting an STI, 335i or S4 due to wanting manual. After crunching some numbers I determined that I could not afford an S4 so the S3 is the next best option. I found a CPO that they just dropped the price on and found a new one with the same options for $44k. They will also give me a good trade in value (as good as you can get for a trade in..). What do you guys think? Is this a good deal? Any regrets not getting a manual? Thanks!

    I wouldn't pay more than 37k.

Really? My one concern is that Audi is discounting these cars so heavily new that it will affect resale value down the road. I'm seeing that with my vw for sure. VW isn't in the same league as Audi IMO though.

I just paid $38K for a 2015, but mine had a little more miles on it.

Can't say anything about the CPO as I got mine new but I have yet to miss my manual. I thought I would but the DSG is just so much fun and solo quick. You also can't beat the DSG farts, gotta love when people turn their heads trying to figure out what the noise was.

I paid $4K more and ordered a brand new '16 Prestige package, 19" PP, red calipers and rear seat airbags in Monsoon Gray with black. The above car is not a Prestige package car, is a year old and has almost 9K miles on it. I agree with the above comment about not paying more than $37K.

I got mine for 43K back in September with 5K miles -2015 S3 Prestige CPO. So I agree, no way for 44K.

I stand corrected. Then yeah, 41K is still too high. I suggest to keep looking and wait at the end of the month. They most always sweaten the deal. For me, used with low miles works because the car is practically new, smells like new, drives like new and you could use the money you save for mods.

If you don't care about options you can order a base s3 for 41k.. That's the route I'm going.

40k is fair for cpo, but good price would be 39k, a great price would around 37k... its a well optioned s3

I'd gladly pay for the price of this S3 back in late 2014 when I equipped my A3. This S3 is fully loaded.

When you factor in the fact that my A3 was only a Premium Plus semi loaded. No Bang & Olufsen. and it ran $42K (before taxes) and I put $4K down + haggling to get it to finance at $38K with taxes.

and you have an option for a fully loaded S3 at $40K.

Man it really does pay to wait. 8K miles ain't bad either, seeing I'm at 17K miles on my A3 now.

Did they change anything for 2016 on the S3?

Said car is a 2015 Prestige. The packages changed for 2016 prestige.

The price is not horrible OP. I paid $47K for my '15 Prestige in April of '15. They can come down a bit, I bet they would take ~$38K ish.

I agree but I'm a little tougher, I wouldn't do more than $36-$36,500 at the most, just tell them they can make it up on the next sap that walks through the door. I just bought a 2016 Exclusive with 500 miles for $46995 Plus doc fees

repackaged options since making some options standard is all they've done to the 8Vs. i.e. Part of the Drivers Assistance Package which included the backup camera and sensors became Standard feature. The other part that included Side Assist was lumped with the MMI Navigation Plus package.

On this Prestige Fully Loaded '15 S3 , you already have all of that.... and for only $40K.

They were asking $42,985 then dropped it to $40,985. They'll give me $19,500 for my 2015 GLI SEL ($8,750 loss ) but say the overall deal is the best they can do. I might wait it out and see if they drop the price more.

I offered them $37k and they said the deal we had was the very best they can do. I told him I'm passing on the deal now.

Yeah exactly. I'm going to wait until the end of the month. I've never driven one so I want to do that first. I'm really hoping I don't miss manual.

I started driving 00' every car I had was manual until my S3... I love to have an s2000 just for shits and giggles. But I'm content and pleased with the DSG for everyday driver... its still very fun to drive.

I really think I'll like having a more sporty auto car. The closest thing I have access to in auto is my moms e90 328i xDrive. I love that car but it gets boring.

Did most of you lease or buy?

I leased mine... I may purchase it at the end but I most likely won't cuz I drive my cars a lot, therefor I don't keep them cuz the maintenance is to costly on german cars. My leasing contract is 25k a year.

That definitely makes sense. I've always bought my cars but I'm losing my ass on my GLI. I only drive about 8k per year.

So I found out the CPO is actually a prestige. I think I'm going to buy it.

It is a prestige and it also comes with a 100k warranty, being CPO.

IMO 9K miles with another 91K warranty left > 0K miles with 50k warranty. I don't think red calipers warrant a 4k increase, with 50k miles less warranty.

Keep in mind they may be quoting him the 40k due to his trade. The extra money they have left in the car hes buying may be them given to him by extra $ for his trade. Its not like hes just walking in Without a trade trying to haggle the best price.

One more thing....are S3s having the turbo issues that the Golf R were having? I searched around and haven't seen any posts about S3 owners blowing turbos like Golf R and GTI owners.

Update: I calculated everything and the depreciation on the CPO prestige is pretty damn high vs the premium plus. I'll be buying or leasing a 2016 based on that.

Do you guys think the tech pack is worth it?
