Splash Screen Disappeared

Hey guys,

Did an SRI reset on my buddy's 2011 S4 but after doing so, he no longer has the S4 splash screen when his car is turned on. We can see it when the radio is off but now when the car is turned on. Any assistance would be great.

Mine doesn't display the screen when the radio is on either. It shows the radio details when it's on.

I looked on YouTube and found a guy that changed his splash screen. Maybe you can see what codes he was messing with to turn yours back on . I'm guessing your talking about when you intitially turn the car on I hope lol

I could be wrong, but I think it only comes on when the car has been off for a while. Have you tried letting the car sit overnight and see if it comes on? Maybe you guys aren't seeing it because you're looking for it too soon after doing the reset? Don't know, just throwing out ideas.

Yea, that might be true. We'll let the car sit and try later and see if that's the case

It's not even always overnight. Seems to be somewhat random when it'll show and when it won't.

is he unlocking the car before he gets to it? like from a distance? i think i remember reading if you unlock the car first the MMI boot up is much quicker vs opening it right at the door

He has keyless entry so he doesn't unlock in advance

Just checked with him. Splash screen works as long as you leave the car for a longer duration of time. If you return and turn your car back on in short intervals, it won't appear sometimes. Thanks for your help guys.

Yea i figured but he was concerned so i thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. Although, when i had my A4 i don't think it ever appeared lol

i get where you're coming from .. anything that seems out of the norm after you do something to someone's car.. phone.. laptop.. anything kinda points back to the action that was done.. nothing wrong with asking here or being semi-paranoid

lol exactly! I was like damn i don't want to be blamed for this, especially because he just got the car. It didn't help that when i searched up the issue one guy stated that after doing the SRI reset, his never appeared again.

Yea the MMI seems to have multiple states of "off." If the ignition is not off for a while, it will turn right back on without the splash screen. If it is off for longer, you get the splash screen (indication that it's going through a full boot).
If you leave it off for a really long time (which I've done a few times) it won't even turn on by itself - you have you use the power button to get it back up.

As far as I can remember my splash screen comes on everyt time I start the car. It says Audi MMI S4.

That's what I thought too. Although, I rarely start/stop the care in quick intervals. Interesting to know that it might not display that though.

mine only splashes when its been off for a period of time. I think there is a way to change it in the hidden menu for it to always splash. don't know exactly where in the hidden menu. i know it comes loaded with different splash screens for different makes (not sure why you would want to change it to a different model then what it is) .
