    New Rotors/Pads for RS5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys:

I have just under 32k miles on my RS5. Dealership is quoting me $2,497.32 for new front rotors/pads. They said they could deduct $200 off this price for a total of $2,297.32. This seems really high to me. Would you agree? Any idea what this should really run? I've had the car for 3 years (2014 model received in June 2013). I am thinking about selling the car now and getting into something new so not even sure it is worth replacing. Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks!

No, that's about right. The OEM rotors are around $1500 and the pads another $300-$400 and then the labor. Actually seems a pretty good price they quoted you. You can do it cheaper by going to an indy shop and put on aftermarket rotors and pads. I replaced my fronts with aftermarket parts (see signature) and added stainless steel lines and race fluid. Parts were about $1200 and my indy shop charged around $200-$300 for the job. Don't remember the exact figure, but the total cost was significantly below OEM parts and dealer labor and what I've got now performs better than OEM.

I got a similar quote when I took it to my Audi dealer. I ended up paying 2K all said and done at an Indy shop for 100% OEM parts.

I know you guys are probably not going to like to hear this... But for my last 2 Audi's and my current... I've always gotten my pads at Auto Zone with the Life-Time warranty. Literally never have to pay for new pads ever again. Performance wise and for being quiet they seem to be better than my previous OEM pads. My buddy who owns a shop here in San Diego swaps them out for me for $40.

I just replaced my Carbon Ceramic Brake Pads.. I found out the previous owner switched the pads with a different type of material that wasnt OEM and wasnt good.
Total for my pads were 599ish. < They hooked it up. 400 for pads and I had other stuff done as well.

I just hit 20K and got the good news that my pads are close to half way to needing replacement. Thank god I don't have to worry about that expense for a bit. Check ECS tuning. They finally have a nice replacement set of rotors for $950 and $485 for the Pads. YOu can probably get a decent Indy to install them for a reasonable cost.

Get the ECS rotors. They're well priced, have lasted me well on the track. If you want a good decently priced brake pad, get the StopTech 309. I've tracked them (on non heavy braking track - Sonoma) along with street use and they're fantastic. They're cheap if you buy it online (achtuning).
