Battery Drain on cooldown

When I first got my RS7 and got it in the garage, I became concerned it kept running. I guess the sales people thought everyone knows about the cooldown cycle. Anyway, I travel a lot for my business and have had bad experiences with batteries sulphating due to long periods without use with other cars.
I solved this problem using Delray battery tenders and got one for the RS7. On the other cars, the green lamp indicating "float" or maintenance charge came on in a few minutes. On the RS7, the Delray stays on high output for hours before switching to float. Note to Ingolstadt...This doesnt bode well for battery life.

What would you consider good battery life? I've gotten as little as 3 years and as much as 5 years on Audi batteries previously. I've only had my S6 for a year now, but I'm pretty positive the previous owner didn't swap batteries, which would put me at a total of about 3 years on the current battery.

Ive gotten three years or less out of both Interstate and Autozone Gold Top in infrequently driven cars. Porsche 930 and various Corvettes. After the Recommendation from an Interstate technician to use a Delray 8 years plus. Failures were due to sulphated cells

I have 4.5 years on my A6 battery. Still going strong.
