    01 Allroad wiring help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey everyone, kinda new to the forum and I need a little help with my Allroad project. I am in the midst of an engine swap and noticed in the front carrier there were two wires that had been previously cut and taped over.

Between the driver's headlight and foglight, runs up the inside of the radiator support. Anything important that I should fix while it's out? Can't seem to figure out what it is, looked through the wiring diagrams and everything.

One wire is brown, the other is brown/violet.

Air Temp Sensor? Mounts in front of the radiator.

I have no clue. That would make sense based on the position, the dude I bought it from chopped the wires off really short so I don't even know where they went.

Edit: Just checked and I still have my air temp sensor, it's just not mounted in front of the rad. I'll double check the wiring for that. Do you know if those color wires correspond to that sensor? I tried to look through the diagram but didn't see anything

If they are small gauge wires, they are probably from the microswitch on the hood latch, which is part of the factory alarm system.
The original wire harness, if it's still there, should run up the inside of the channel on the rad support where the hood release cable runs.

The hood microswitch wire colors are brown and grey / red.

Follow the wires and tell us what harness section it follows.

i cant get the image to post but i posted the link. It's on the back of the rad, driver's side. looks like the harness runs along the bottom of the radiator and comes up towards the top of the rad on the drivers side at headlight height. The two wires are cut short and taped so I have no clue where those went. Also if you look at the pic, I have an aftermarket electric fan kit, but its where the stock mechanical clutch fan would be. I'm pulling the entire front end apart tomorrow to start my built engine swap if better pics would help. Just want to make sure it isn't wiring for something that I may want later since it's hard to access on the car. First Audi I've owned, planned on it being a beater but now it's probably going to get a mild tune (stage 1+) and be my daily toy if I ever get it back together

EDIT: here's a fancy MS paint diagram of where I am holding those wires.

I pulled the radiator and everything off this weekend to start the motor pull. Looks like it mates to the large black connector in this group highlighted in the picture. Please let me know if anyone knows what the two wires connect up to on the radiator side.

Anybody know what these are?? I just put my motor back in and the radiator is going back on this week so I'd like to make sure they aren't important.

Hard to see, but if I'm looking at the green connector, that goes to your AC compressor.

Large black connector in the group that mounts in that space above the drivers intercooler on the small brackets. It's somewhere in the radiator assembly but I can't find what it goes to on that side

Update for all: got a new core support harness since mine was all spliced up... and the winner is Kaane! My hood microswitch is actually broken as well (dude I bought it from broke the pigtail off of it completely) so I couldn't find the connector until I laid the new harness up and saw where that leg would go. Guess the dude really didn't like hood alarms so he pulled it out and cut it out of the harness and taped it over as well. Thanks to everyone for trying to help!
