    Is this bad for my tranny?

    2013 Audi A6 3.0t

    Hey gurus. I'm a spirited driver. I frequently have been throwing the shifter into manual mode and slapping the upshift and downshift and flooring it....right up to the speed limit 😬

    Is this bad for the car?

    What about when I put my stage 2 in. Can our transmission handle me doing this with the new tune?

    you have the ZF 8sp, shouldnt be a problem. that transmission is bullet proof and used on the rs6/7 which puts down more power than a tuned a6

    7 is dual clutch and 8 is torque converter. 7 has very fast gear changes but has a lower factory stated max torque rating, but is still a very durable transmission (as proven buy many tuned S6/7's). As mentioned, 8 is used in RS6/7 because it's factory stated torque limit is very high, but, if I understand correctly, it can be provided by ZF with different torque ratings.

    ZF 8HP tranny used in the A6/7 is a different version than the one used in the RS6/7. They have different torque ratings thus different internals.

    I have not been able to find a detail write up on the differences of the internals for the different versions only that ZF designed this transmission to be modular making it easier and cheaper for different versions. I would think that the primary difference for the different torque ratings is probably in the torque converter. I am no expert on tranny's so just my 2 cents.
