Outside skins for pre facelift and facelift are different. Door mouldings and handles to be exact.

Exactly. Otherwise shape is the same.

The only unicorn is the 96 models which have no provisions for lower door mouldings.

Yes. The skins are, you'll need to swap out the actual frame / glass carrier, as the Avant abs Sedan have different profiles to match their respective roof rakes.
