    RS7 Braking Options and Questions

    Hi guys,

I have a 2015 RS7. Every 4-6k miles or so I seem to run out of brakes. I do drive it hard, and rarely track it. That being said it is $4200 to have the brakes done at the dealer, and around $2000 to have it done elsewhere with OEM parts, this includes rotors and pads. The OEM brakes and rotors I keep replacing start vibrating and become noisy after 1k miles. Therefore I kind of want to go with a fuck it option and see what happens. After all if I spend $200 on pads, and they suck, I can just go back to the $4200 set. If they are ok, I have just saved $4k. Quite the return on the gamble... I don't have $30,000 to spend on ceramic brakes, which leaves me with my final question:

What after market pads can you recommend and/or rotors that may alleviate the extremely quick wear of my current brakes. Also, I am just going to do a pad slap without replacing the rotor, because yolo, lets see what happens. Worse case scenario the car is messed up for 4k miles or 1 month (if it's that bad I'll bring it sooner). Any suggestions?

Brother, RS7 or no RS7, needing pads and rotors every 4-6k miles is nuts. Do you have a breakdown from the dealer on how much of that is parts? Are RS7 owners limited to the "waffle" looking rotors, or is there a less expensive option? Is it possible that something is causing your rotors to warp (I had assumed warped rotors was a thing of the past with modern compounds, but vibrating used to be a sure sign of warped rotors)? I'm not sure the pads are your problem here, but perhaps a reputable ceramic pad might net you a few more thousand miles?

    Hi Brooklyn,

I know, I do a lot of 190-60mph stops. I agree that it has gotten excessive. Hence why I am looking to change. Its a bit suspicious since my first set got 12k miles after that only 4k. I have has brake jobs done at 2 seperate dealers, and many techs have said no problem with brakes, but they may just be trying to sell more brakes... Any ideas on what it could be?

The upgrade cost of the $30,000 makes it more affordable to just purchase a new car. Try again.

Europrice has them for almost half of that, something like 17-18k. if you factor in how many times you've swapped brakes already you would almost have a full set by now. and that 18k gets you full setup front and rear

Nice thanks for the referral over. Still have to get them installed putting me at $19k. For $19k I can pay the difference between the new RS7 and the old one that comes with it still. It sounds like the inefficient crappy brakes need to either be replaced with a new car. I am going to try experimenting with an audi tech and see if we can get the regular brakes to be better. I find it a little weird that Audi would make a car like this with such crap brakes.

Wow and I thought I drove aggressive. I just replaced pads at rotors at 36k. My rotors lasted until now and only changed pads once at about 11k. Honestly just by looking at the oem replacements, they don't seem to be the same quality as the one that originally came on the car.
