PTE ball bearing turbos are very good, especially the 6262, but their journal bearing turbos are notoriously unreliable. They like to use a steel thrust bearing versus the industry standard brass and they are prone to fail. Everyone I know who went journal bearing variants, the first thing they do is swap the steel for the brass. The ceramic ball bearings are the only real weak point in the BB turbos, since they dont like abrupt movements (compressor surging/stall, etc. Make sure the wastegates and bypass valves are big enough to handle the flow, and keep the 2-step launches to a minimum. Turbos dont like that. ;)

    Which PTEs are these?

Oh not doubting they are good turbos. Encountered an issue with one of their turbos brand new from the box, compressor wheel snapped off and they didn't want to warranty it. It was on a friends 1.8t, might have had 150 miles on the build. So basically their customer service sucked.
