    Tune2Air best Bluetooth option?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is tune2air the best option to get Bluetooth audio in my 2012 S4?

Second question, where the hell can I buy one? Google doesn't find me a website. What is the company who makes it called?

You can get it from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...ir%2Caps%2C518 I have one. But like everyone that has one with their iPhone, it has a issue with skipping . Other phones seem to not have that issue

Hit or miss, but read any of the 4-5 threads about it before you buy. I just returned mine in hopes that I would find one that plays nice with my bluetooth in the car, because the skipping was driving me bananas. I picked up, arrives tomorrow, a Coolstream Carpro. It will likely do the same thing, as the tune2air, but its $10 less on amazon, and has US based support. I'll admit from the pictures I have seen on Amazon, the coolstream looks lame in comparison to the tune2air, but I care more about function when it sits in the glove box the whole time.

I tried the tune2air in my 15 S4 and hated it. Kept trying to fight for control and then I could never stop a song. It would start playing again. I found some new remaining stock of the Audi bluetooth adapter that works with the concert radio that I have. Works a lot better than tune2air. I dont understand why Audi discontinued it.

LOL what?? It literally brings the company website up as the first result and then the amazon link as the second result.

Anyway, I have it in my 2012 S4 and I love it. The skipping is barely noticeable if it even does happen. I have iPhone 5s connected. It works with the steering wheel and MMI controls. Shows song info on the MMI screen as well.

My tune2air recently stopped working properly. It will connect and disconnect from the car. In the middle of playing music, it will disconnect and the mmi will say "no device connected".

Need to find a better, more reliable option. It worked well enough when it worked. I doubt it's the cable shorting out, but I guess I could test that. It probably costs as much as a new tune 2air anyway. I'd like to test out a different brand dongle though if it's worth it.

    What are people's #2 choice?

The 3.5mm seems to work magic once its plugged in :)

One issue I noticed today was that I needed to turn off blue tooth in the gym (50+ Feet away from the car) because it was still connected.

I just bought the a2dp http://a2dp4audi.com . Will report back once it comes in. I was going between that and the tune2air. Saw a lot of mixed reviews for the tune2air plus the youtube video was kind of iffy.

Im curious to hear your thoughts on this. I was also torn between the two devices, but the a2dp doesn't allow you to change songs via the mmi controls and it doesn't show song info either. These are two major things that were a deal breaker for me. The tune2air does it all.

The fix for the Tune2Air iPhone skipping issue to turn the Audi MMI Bluetooth off. Yes you will lose your telephone functions in the MMI but I prefer that over my music skipping. I think it has something to do with the iPhone being connected to the Tune2Air and Audi MMI simultaneously that causes the skipping.

So with that one, you have to buy the $70 cable? There cable that came with my car won't work?

Tune2air works fine on mine. Haven't noticed any skipping. Some weird things I did notice:
    - when I use Spotify, the screen doesn't update, only shows first song I played
    - it can't pause. When I pause it proceeds to continue playing after a second.
    - at least a couple times I answered a call via bluetooth and it started playing a song in the background. It was like being in a movie. Not sure if it's related to tune2air though.

I can report back on the Coolstream CarPro. In short, it does the same thing as the tune2air with the random skipping, but far less than the tune2air in my experience. My tune2air would skip consistently, like every 30 - 60 seconds. The CarPro has only skipped twice in the 4 or so hours I have used it so far. In addition, the pairing is much faster with the CarPro, or at least seems to be (I never timed it).

Now if I could convince Apple to allow me to remove the mistake of radio stations I made 5 months ago, we would be in business. I may still jump on one of the discontinued Audi Bluetooth dongles in the future if one becomes available.

i have had tun2air for a year and a half now and i rarely ever experience skipping ever. quality is actually not too bad, only thing that is obnoxious is that when you get into your car sometimes it takes a bit to connect and when it does it always plays the first song on your iTunes no matter what ( for me at least ) and getting out of the car, say you immediately hook up to your bose speaker in your house it'll connect and disconnect for like 30 mins because its still connected to the piece, so you always gotta disconnect from it here and there

I will report back once it arrives. It is suppose to get here some time today. We will see if that happens. The tune2air seemed to be the perfect package but people have a lot of issues with it. Plus issues with the phone pairing and different updates i saw and frequent skipping. So i figure i can sacrifice those two things if the quality is better.

So theres the package deal that comes with the bluetooth receiver and the custom cable. When it arrives i can let you know if you can use the current cord. But I'm guessing not because I'm sure the plug in for the bluetooth receiver is some sort of special contraption.

This is a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. Does this only work with iPhone, or will a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 connect? I'm looking for something that is recommended, but it seems like you all have iPhones here.

No it does not. I did not want the nav+ pkg on my S4 so I got the concert radio and b&o only. So it does not come with bt audio even in 2015. Bt phone only, not audio. The audi bt kit I installed is designed to work with concert radios. Unfortunately that kit is discontinued and difficult to find now. I was lucky enough to find one because I hated the tune2air.

I am very curious how the http://a2dp4audi.com unit works. I have gotten the Tune2Air to work fine (turn off the phone bluetooth) but that is really annoying when i want to use the phone.

The main issue I have with the Tune2Air (once i get it to stop skipping) Is that it automatically plays my first song in my LIBRARY. Although i almost always am using soundcloud, and i really wished it would start playing where I left off in soundcloud (most bluetooth stereos now of days do this flawlessly, weather or not the app was even opened recently, as long as that what was playing last).

Can anyone comment on how http://a2dp4audi.com handles this?

Got my A2DP device Monday and it's been great. I've got Nav, so I just ordered the basic cable and BT device; I believe it was $95 shipped. Install is as easy as plugging in the AMI cable and BT device and then connecting just like any other BT device on your phone. I've streamed music with Google Play Music and podcasts with BeyondPod on my Nexus 6 with zero issues, and when I receive a call it comes in just fine over the Phone portion of the MMI. Zero skips have occurred. I'm pretty sure it reverts to whatever song I'm at in my playlist, but I'll check that specifically later. All in all, I would definitely recommend this as a way to add A2DP to any B8 that doesn't have it stock.

Does it show any information on the screen? And their FAQ states that you cannot change track info from the vehicles controls. Is that correct? You have to use your phone to skip songs?

Can you test something for me (really annoying from tune2air). Can you use like pandora or sound cloud keep it playing. Turn off the car get in/get out and see if when you turn the car back on it keeps playing from the same spot in the song same app... You might need to walk far enough away so it disconnects, I am curious when it reconnects which media source it auto starts playing...

For whatever reason my tune2air reverts back to my stored music which i never listen to and its like 4-5 click process on the phone to get it back going.

Much appreciated if you have time to do that.

So for quite some time, I've been having issues with my Tune2Air. The music will play through it for a second, then randomly the MMI will state that there is nothing connected to that audio source, and it will come in and out. This started happening to me out of the blue several months ago. I have done all the FW updates available to the Tune2Air device. It had me also wondering if maybe my phone received some update that stopped the bluetooth connection working correctly. I eventually just gave up and stopped using it.

FF to now. Got a new phone, different model. Went out to test with it and still get the same thing. It feels like I can duplicate the issue if I wiggle the cable near where the connection to the car is. So this has me wondering, is my cable bad? Anyone know where I can cheaply source a new cable to test? Either I get this thing working again, or I'm going to have to stoop to paying for SiriusXM.

I've had mine for over a year now in my B8 and I give it a 7/10. I have to manually pair it 90% of the time (I have a Galaxy S6), which is pretty annoying, but the car/phone works with the BT phone functions while both are connected. Seek buttons work on the MMI, but a little cumbersome to seek using the steering wheel controls (press in left scroll wheel, then scroll to the second "Next" and press wheel in to select). The annoying part is my wife's VW has all of this built in, so why couldn't Audi have done this with the same year car that costs upwards to 60k?

Anyway, I'd recommend it if you have the same set up as me (2011 with nav), but understand it's limited.

Mine used to skip a lot when I first got it. Now it hardly ever skips. If it does, it will do it like once then back to normal. I use it for everything but Itune. The only thing I don't like is that if I want to change the song, I have to do it from the phone. Don't have that issue if I use iTune though.
