    I need the best way to drain power steering fluid completely out of my 01 2.8 a4.

    Shitty.

    I would lightly apply pressurized air to one end of the oil cooler hoses until it comes out of the other. 10psi or so. Then refill with the correct stuff. Do this a couple times until you get the color you want.

    Sorry I can't think of a better or cheaper way but it would be cheaper than replacing the rack and easier than removing it to flush it.

    Perhaps removing the line at the point closest and most accessible to you when you pop the hood (driver side front, fairly visible, swoops down then back up to the depths of the engine, disconnect at the point close to you)... that is the line that burst on me, and I lost all or most of all my fluid at that time.

    Come to think of it... I put some generic PS fluid in when I was trying to do a quick fix (stupid I know), and maybe all the fluid didn't drain out, which means I still have some of that generic stuff in there, causing my whine.

    Where's the oil cooler hose?
