Exactly, no Torsen quattro. And it's too slow for my liking anyway.

Would really like to try this out when there's snow on the ground and see how much of this new system is really noticeable, or not as they're saying.

Remember, the torsen differential has been mostly replaced in all MLB platforms with the crown-gear differential which made it's debut with the RS5. I don't know if the torsen is only available with the manuals or if it's also been replaced w/ the crown-gear diff.

    too slow? 252hp, 273lb-ft compare to 220hp, 258lb-ft. I think it's a good increase.

Not bad at all for a bread and butter vehicle (though that's probably now the Q5). 2017 A4 DSG is good for about 5.7s to 60 mph. A 2001 B5 S4 doesn't seem too long ago and doing that in the mid 5s.

Sure. It's still too slow though.

I'll have to agree with Mike on both points here.....

RE: Torsen .....I would rather give the technology a try and see how it performs rather than dismiss it immediately because it's not "Torsen" based.

As for being slow......it never promised that it was an S or RS car.....a 0-60 time of ~6 seconds for a raised "off-roader" isn't bad at all. It's designed to be smooth, quick enough for 99% of the population, handle the shopping mall parking lot, trips to the slopes and return decent mileage. On those points, I bet it does nicely.
My other home is an AIRSTREAM.

Sorry confused by variations of AWD technology and which models get which.

B5/B6/B7 A4 - Torsen self-locking mechanical for longitudinal engines 50R/50F bias (Quattro IV)
    B8 A4 - Torsen 60R/40F (Quattro V)
RS5 - started self-locking crown differential deployment with some clutch/plate engagement to change front/rear ratio; normally 60R/40F (Quattro VI?)
Haldex - is on latitude engines - A3/S3/TT;primarily FWD with rear bias when needed via clutch

Which one of these then is on the B9 A4 and/or Allroad?

    Thanks for your help.

regular B9 A4s have the crown diff, allroad has the haldex like quattro (part time AWD)
