Misfire on all cylinders, no power

ISSUE SOLVED: UPDATED ORIGINAL POST WITH PROCESS AND SOLUTION

Well this seems like a big one

So I went to pass a semi today on my way back from an out of state trip, and the car fell on its face with a woosh sound. Started hesitating and misfiring when I let off the throttle, and jumps from about 800rpm to 2000rpm while idling, very rough.

I pulled the MAF to see if that was causing any issue but same result. Engine doesn't sound healthy at all, almost like knocking when it is attempting to run. I just recent put in bosch Fr5DTC plugs and I am running red coil packs. I don't think these would be the issue since it happen on all at once. I checked the intercooler pipes and those are still in good shape, and can't find any leaks. Anywhere specific to check? I am afraid of it being the HPFP cam follower since it has been a little while since I checked it, is this a common result of that?

    Any help GREATLY appreciated

Pulled codes and am getting (no hard code yet)

p0299 -0 Boost pressure regulation; control range not reached
    p0300 - Random/multiple cylinder misfer detected
    p0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected
    p0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected
    p0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected
    p0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected

Here was how I did the leak test, removed the turbo to valve cover pipe and plugged it with a wine stop wrapped in some shop towels to get the diameter. Tightened it up with a hose clamp. Plugged the pvc contraption into the TIP and set the psi to about 15 and let her rip. If you have a pcv installed, I am not sure if you would want to remove and extra part. Doesn't seem like it though.

Could someone post a picture of what is supposed to be going on with the smaller tap underneath the one I just had an issue with. When I first bought the car I didn't do much of my own work and had a shop but the boost gauge in. Looks like a hack job so I want to replumb it with this nice apr tap, but I don't have a baseline of what the stock configuration looks like.

I saw this thread, looks somewhat similar but in the other direction (overboost) possibly

Do you have an access to vagcom or a obd scanner that can log fuel trim values? any other codes? If you heard a woosh sound perhaps that is some boost leak. Does the car feel like it doesn't have power when you step on the gas? Rough idle could also be a vacuum leak. I'm thinking this is a broken diverter valve.

Yeah no power, those codes are all that vagcom pulled. You think the forge dv would fail? Seems unlikely to me but I will look. Yeah I have the full vagcom, I'll check the fuel pressure in the morning in the log. Not a fan of starting it up in this condition but have to find out I guess. Also wouldn't a failed dv just cause boost loss? Not such violent misfires I would think? Just thinking out loud, but now I'm somewhat suspecting the o2 sensor. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll check first thing in the morning.

Mine idled fine when DV went, same with the N75. No misfires.

Something to add, I was able to limp home since it wasn't hesitating much unless I let off the throttle or came to idle.

My guess is a boost leak. Check out your fuel trim values, not the fuel pressure values, although it wouldn't hurt. THIS is a good read and will help you diagnose your issues.

A big leak like that post throttle body will definitely cause the car to run poorly. There should be a plug there.

Can't edit on my phone easily, looks to be the pcv breather for the check valve. Time to hunt around the engine bay.

Agreed, I'll post a couple pictures on how I leak tested too, not too many of those out there for the b7 platform. May have to order that plug, assume it went bye bye at 20 psi somewhere on the interstate.

Exact same thing happened to me with the plug 034 supplied. Stepped on the throttle and it popped out while i was driving. Car died and i eventually had to unplug the maf to get it running.
