How many miles are too many miles for a chip?

So my 99 B5 (AEB) has 125k miles and is my daily driver. I am thinking of getting a chip but am worried about reliability.

Have you had any bad experiences with chips? What chip would you recommend?

    Thanks.

I have 210k on mine with quite a bit more than a chip, as long as your maintenance is up to date (namely timing belt) and the car hasn't been beaten to hell, you will be fine.

I chipped my AEB at 130k, now at 153k and it hasn't done any damage, if anything the engine seems happier. At Least once a day I'll do a nice boost happy drive.

You can buy my AEB tune for dirt cheap (its in the classifieds!), and if it melts down at least you got it for next to nothing!

chipped mine at 111,000 now has 152,000. I went with giac and is known to be a aggressive tune, only problem i dealt with was clutch slipping, Just Do It! after you chip you prob will crave for more like we all do!
