Due to countless requests, we've developed a clean solution for those wanting the power of downpipes without the added expense of replacing the OE cat-back. How much of the power/TQ 'gained' by the DP is negated by necking down the DP?

None, removing the factory catalyst is where the gain is. This just allows you to get a 'stage 2' option without doing a full Turboback. This is like the 'quiet' option for power.

Why do you interfere with every Sponsor thread in this forum?

Many of us come here to learn the options and see what's available and I for one think your tone is inhibiting vendors from posting as much as they otherwise might.

I have no problem with respectful challenge but you're overtly saying this product won't do anything for us. Why don't yet least let the vendor reply to the request for information on power gain before trolling their thread

We always appreciate feedback. We understand these aren't for everyone and we're not saying their the ticket to getting the optimum HP and TQ from these motors. As I mentioned in the original post, we had quite a bit of demand for these, so we made a batch. Its a good option for those looking for an easy and inexpensive route to more power. We're happy to do some dyno testing to compare the Milltek downpipes/stock catback setup vs. Milltek downpipes/Milltek catback setup if anyone's interested.

    1. Factory cats are not massively restrictive, but are a restriction once power levels are elevated. This is why 'stage 2' files require removal of, or higher-flowing cats.

    2. That AMS transition should be smooth, it's like 6" behind the factory cat location, which would still very much be dealing with heat and thermal turbulence.
2a. This junction is over 3' away from the AMS location, where said turbulence is inconsequential IN PRACTICE.

    3. An apples to apples comparison would be to prove that the link pipe pictured, versus a link pipe with a 6" long taper in place of that would showcase any sort of quantifiable power difference.
    3a. It won't.
3b. I'm not even sure that at stage 2 power levels, that changing the catback as well would offer notable gains over the factory piece. Maybe RS turbo kit on factory S exhaust... But I digress.

I'm not trying to start any crap just opening the floor to some discussion since I genuinely don't know how much the necking down affects backpressure and overall output. I think it's a question worth entertaining since most people making the jump to high flow or catless DPs are expecting some degree of performance improvement.

John, thanks for clarifying the bit regarding distance from the engine. I never considered that gases are expanding and flowing around as they make their way through the pipes so there is probably some degree of less resistance or interference as it gets further away.

You guys are ridiculous, lol. I have never seen people be so picky about welds. Not everything needs to be tig welded and beautiful. Sometimes when pipes are going to be under the car and covered with a clamp anyway...a clean mig weld is more than sufficient.

I have been welding for several years and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the welds shown above.
