1. Factory cats are not massively restrictive, but are a restriction once power levels are elevated. This is why 'stage 2' files require removal of, or higher-flowing cats.
2. That AMS transition should be smooth, it's like 6" behind the factory cat location, which would still very much be dealing with heat and thermal turbulence.
2a. This junction is over 3' away from the AMS location, where said turbulence is inconsequential IN PRACTICE.
3. An apples to apples comparison would be to prove that the link pipe pictured, versus a link pipe with a 6" long taper in place of that would showcase any sort of quantifiable power difference.
3a. It won't.
3b. I'm not even sure that at stage 2 power levels, that changing the catback as well would offer notable gains over the factory piece. Maybe RS turbo kit on factory S exhaust... But I digress.
