    Powdercoat thoughts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just picked up a set of fat fives for my s4. 3 of them are in decent shape but one is absolutely wrecked. I was thinking I could get them all powder coated but don't know what would match well with nogaro exterior.

I think something slightly oem looking but a little brighter could be cool. Thoughts?

Have you seen the plastic dip??? They have came a long way with it. And if you don't like it you can just perl it off. But I have saved rims that were pretty bad. There is good videos on YouTube if you want to remove dings and scratches

just to double check, these are the C5 A6 4.2 version right? Not the TT fat fives right? Because the TT version are a different bolt pattern.

I wouldn't do black. I know alot of nog owners have black wheels and other accents. But personally I'm not a fan

I have white faces on my rs's, and I have a noggy car too. I believe that's honestly one of the best accent colors for nogaro. I don't know how it would look on fat 5s though, because the faces are so, well, fat.

I am a huge fan of just a nice crisp silver with some metal flake in it. Have you given a polished finish thought at all? That would look fantastic. I know the fat 5s come with a machined finish, but just a bit more of a mirror finish would make them really pop. It wouldn't be as hard to do as you think. It really depends on how roughed up your one wheel is.

The 17" A6 wheels that are identical to fat five's are a polished finish. They look awesome imo.

    now that looks fantastic.

I totally Thought the 18" fat fives had a machine/polish like finish more like that too, but I must be thinking of those instead. I'm still all for polished fat fives though!

Silver wheels pop on nogaro. I feel they go hand and hand. I've tried darker colors on mine and the blue looks best with a bright silver paired with it. Just my 2 cents.

    Have a pic?

Here are the wheels I got. Not sure if the seller is a user here (thanks if you are). You can see the one that is all messed up

Maybe a little mirror finish would look nice. The car does have the chrome trim around the door. I know a4s come without them, do all s4s come with?

    Appreciate the input

Wait. Is these fat or flat fives? For the longest time I thought that were fat fives. Either way, they are my favorite oem wheel

See, the reason I dislike black is because that you lose all depth of the wheel from more than 5 feet away. You also can't Really distinguish the pattern/shape of the wheel while its rolling. It's just personal preference.

From that pic it looks like it's a lot more oxidation than anything. Stripping, sanding, and polishing will bring those bad boys back to life.

Here's some shots of my car with the white rs's. http://m.imgur.com/a/G94yy

There are two different types of "fives", the flat AND the fat. Those you pictured look like flat fives to me, fat fives are more concave in the middle and a few other design differences. The C5 A6 4.2 came with fat fives in the correct bolt pattern if i'm not mistaken, and they look like this:

whenever i hear of white wheels on a blue car, this Electric blue Si immediately comes to mind:

(not saying that is good or bad, but for some reason this exact image from the early 2000's immediately flashes in my mine. It must have been the very first civic on cardomain or something lol)

And another point, FAT fives (off the 4.2 V8 C5's) only come in 17's. FLAT fives (off D3 A8's) come in 18's. I'm also trying to spread some knowledge.

You, OP, absolutely have FLAT fives. You can tell because they don't have the concave to them, and the 17's Vs 18's.

I say either do a polish, or a bright OEM sliver powdercoat.
