Ok I have a 2012 a4 Quattro, my wastegate was bad so I bought a new turbo,I was told it was easy so I installed it myself,I believe I did everything correct but when I turned it on it started sputtering and blowing white smoke from turbo. What could've i done wrong? I just took old one out and put new one in going by Alldata instruction. I did try adjusting my exhaust since one stuck out more than other. Help please need my baby back on the road.

I used this thread when replacing mine for the same reason.

I would suspect that you have double checked that you have crush washers on both sides of all banjo bolts, and that your oil and coolant lines are in the right places. If not, double check those, as well as your DV and N75.

Was the car burning oil prior to the swap? Where did you get the turbo? Are you dripping coolant or oil on anything hot? Is the engine sputtering, as in misfiring? Do you have a VCDS or Carista?

Ok I fixed it I forgot to take a clamp off a coolant hose. I know I'm a idiot. But is there supposed to be a 500 difference in boost specified and actual? Based on apr mobile logging? I seem to be dripping coolant too

If you swapped the turbo by yourself and the worst mistake you made is to leave a clamp on a hose, you're doing well in my opinion :)

At which rpm are you seeing the boost difference? On my B7, the Revo file would ask for loads of boost low down around spool (1600-2000ish rpm iirc) , probably to improve response. I always had a difference in that range but not much of a difference above that rpm range.

kvittrafn makes a good point; and judging by the fact that you have the apr dongle, I have to ask if you're tuned? He is also right in the fact that you're doing well if that's the only hiccup you had.

Thanks guys, I was feeling a lil dumb about that mistake but now you guys pumped me up feel good about myself now. Think I'm ready to rebuild an engine J.K.lol I'm nowhere near ready for that. I'll check on the rpm in a bit and update
