    Opinion on Asking Price

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Major life changes have brought me to selling the RS4. I have only owned it for 2.5 years and it has been fun, but I am realizing that I don't drive it often and it would probably be better off in the hands of someone who would actually drive it.

I have seen the prices fluctuate all over for this car and I honestly just want to set a fair price, no haggling, and send it off with someone who will enjoy it.

    2007
    Daytona Gray
    Black interior
    36,500 miles
    2nd owner
Complete with all parts (first aid kit, air pump, original window sticker, book, etc)

Modifications: addition of Passport 9500ci radar/laser detector, BBS CCK1 wheels

No major cosmetic issues (few light scratches, couple of wheel scuffs).

Would replace front lip spoiler due to some scuffing.

    Absolutely no mechanical issues.

    All maintenance records available.

Clean CarFax, no accidents, no smoking, no pets, no kids.

Any opinions welcome and please feel free to post publicly...I'm not trying to hide or swindle anyone on a deal.

    Thanks

I wouldn't list it for less than $40k. Do you have the stock wheels? A car with as low mileage as yours might sell better with stock rims. The BBS are nice and you could likely recover a lot selling those separately.

a SELLING price for a car like this would be anywhere from $35-$37k based on recent RS4 sales.

I bought mine at 41k on the odo January 2015 for $34k.

Although mine is Avus Silver so not sure if color has effects on prices (I know Papaya, Glut, Ibis are on a different level).

I think with your mods, 38k is a fair asking price. Almost everyone interested will ask about DRC update or replaced, and Carbon Clean. Those are the 2 things that the internet immediately pops up, assuming your buyer does the homework before buying a car.
If you can sit on it for a while, putting it back completely stock and hope for a "collector" type to approach you may yield a higher asking price, or the same minus the mods that you can sell and make a few extra $$.

    ^^

$38k would be a fair price if carbon clean and DRC has been taken care of.

i was assuming those have not been done since the care has very low km.

DRC has NOT been done (to my knowledge anyway)
    NO carbon cleaning done

In addition, I DO have the remainder of a 5-year wheel and tire warranty (expire 8/1/18)
Also, I DO have the remainder of a 6-year, 60,000 mile Audi Platinum Extended Warranty (expire 8/1/2019)

The Passport detector was professionally installed in the front and rear bumpers as well as readout in the rear view mirror. $2,000 system + $500 install

FWIW I had an independent dealer familiar with Audi look at it and go over the car. His comment was "Is it collector quality? No, but it's pretty close."

I think changing out the wheels back to stock and replacing the front lip and you are pretty much there.

Just a few add-ons: I have new LaminX fog light covers (smoke), Ziza internal LEDs (not installed), Euro "funk" switch (not installed), and the Audi all-weather mats

I paid just over $41k (dealer) for a similar car but Avus silver and with about 4k in OEM mods (most of them useful ones). My car was completely stock and flawless inside and out. Purchased locally in Seattle area.

Location does matter but not as much these days as shipping a car is relatively straight forward. So I would say list at around $40k and sell at around $38k or $39k with the carbon clean done.

I would say as close to 40K$ as you can, there are not many left with that mileage and stock.

Just like a lot of these guys have said, around 35k-40k would be a good starting place. B7 RS4s are in high demand right now making you have a lot of control on price

    Hey Cica,

I find this particularly interesting, as we have almost the exact same car, mileage etc..(35.7K as of this AM). Second owner since 2011. Stock engine, exhaust, wheels. I've added 10mm MTM spacers all around, the FBSW with air leather, updated yellow fog lamps and lens covers, and clear corner mod. Just had a CC done (at USP here in SoFlo) and the DRC repaired once, although I fear it is going again with the dreaded clunk rearing its ugly head on the front right...I'll watch closely as you go through this. Please keep us all up to date.

    Thanks,

Thanks for all the insight. I'm going to team up with an independent dealer to help broker the sale. As I said above, not looking to screw anyone...just want a fair price. I would also prefer it to go to someone who knows what they are buying and will enjoy it! Will keep everyone updated.

Thanks everyone, I'm sure it will sell.

I do not have the stock wheels in my possession but those can be put back on without much hassle. The car is at a friends shop (his website) because I don't have the time to meet people individually to see/drive the car. He could do the swap of whatever wheels someone brought/sent to him.

The big plusses are the warranty ($3,500) and the passport radar/laser detector ($2,000) as well.

It's a great car and I would love to keep it...just doesn't fit in with the current life plan.

Not bashing on price or anything but I do understand the enthusiast value of the vehicle. But I would never over pay for something that realistically is 9 years old regardless of low mileage because it's just been sitting or some short or long periods of time. Here's some I go off of pricing from an actual auction that sold RS4s

Based on these numbers seems like my price is right on point. Would be second from the top on that list. In fact, might even be UNDER priced being that these are not necessarily reflective of retail prices. Thanks for the info!

I think that price is very fair. I recently sold my RS4 for $38.5k, with more miles on the clock (42k), but PSI Ohlins, Euro FBSW, a few other mods, plus very recent carbon cleaning. $36-37k range seems very fair to me.

As others have said, if someone has an issue with that kind of money for a 10 year-old car, you aren't the buyer the OP is looking for (no Star Wars reference intended). It's a 10 year-old gas-guzzling sedan with bad rear interior leg room - but it's very, very special. :)

Guy was eager to buy and had the money. Done.

A few others danced around a bit so I couldn't keep going back and forth with them.

Seems that not having the carbon clean done was a "deal breaker" for more than one person!

It's ~800$, and a semi regular maintenance item, I don't see why.... Either way congrats! My R8 sale feel through due to leaking front shocks, and the guy wanted me to eat that coast (4900$ replacement), that I would push back on, but not a CC.

I'm hoping to sell my RS4 for ~$25-27K, we will see.

New RS4 owner here & brand new to the board, was always a vw guy that finally made the switch. :)

FWIW, 35k .. that is a GREAT price, had I known about yours instead of mine, I would've bought that. The one I just purchased a week ago, $33k, it did have the carbon clean done but not the other mods like yours or the lower miles, 59k on my car . What exactly is a DRC? If I'm hijacking this thread please let me know & I'll take this elsewhere.

A week after owning my RS4 I'm STILL super excited, this car is just absolutely UNREAL to me. I never had anything like this before. Had an '04 vw r32 which really was fantastic but this car is outta control amazing to me!

    Cheers,
    Xence
