Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Need help! 2010 Audi s4 Manual 55k. I was driving on the freeway normal driving felt a small jerk at the same time no more power. Rpm started to drop and no response from the accelerator. Pulled off to the side and now engine doesn't turn over. No codes no nothing. Towed it home and it starts for a instant and shuts down. Any help is appreciated thank you

    throwing any codes?

edit, just saw you said no code. My bad!

Maybe I'm thinking it could be fuel related, perhaps the fuel pump.. But strange it wouldn't turn over right after maybe electrical then.

Serpentine belt? I remember something happened about a decade ago on my Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (3.8 supercharged). The serpentine belt snapped and wrapped up around the supercharger. I felt like you did--no power whatsoever, no matter how much I gunned it. Mine did start up because I only drove it a short distance. Possible you may have run out of battery if this is the case (since alternator wasn't turning).

Go venture a look in case.

Almost sounds fuel related. Had a fuel pump relay go on my Prelude and it would start and run for a few seconds and shut off.

What if the fuel level sensor failed and it ran out of fuel (I had a Ford Probe do this). When is the last time you filled up? Still does not explain the failure to turn over right after..

If it was fuel related I'd think it would throw the EPC light on with a fuel related code

First off Does the car have power? Does the car crank at all? Those are the basic questions we need answers to first

Put gas in it yesterday almost a half tank now. It turns over very briefly then dies. Car tries to start again fails and shuts down completely. I am Giac stage 2 as well

Did a quick search and found this http://www.audiforums.com/forum/b6-m...arting-177023/

Turns out it was a fuel pump. Maybe give it a read to see if your symptoms are similar.

Time to get the starting fluid and spray it in the intake to see if it starts and stays running runs.

This. Just pull the intake off the Throttle body and have a friend help you. Someone crank while someone spray. But you have to Judge the spray don't just go spraying the crap out it it. Spray in Burst's quick at first until it fires and long and longer as it starts or wants to fire. Its a learning process you will see

    Shut down on freeway

Wow this sounds exactly like what happened to me today. After a sudden snap while downshifting off the freeway the steering lost power assist, and the car felt way off.

Popped and hood and found my serpentine belt shredded and my new APR pulley split in half.

Had a flatbed pick it up and now it's at my shop till Monday. They don't know if the APR belt or OEM belt gave first so once we figure that out it either gets repaired by the shop or at the dealer care of the CPO warranty.

Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, fuel sensor, etc.

    Seems like it's fuel related.

I'd have them check the fuel pump first which should be easy to do... seems fuel related for sure.

I'm talking about the low pressure fuel pump in the gas tank, no upgrade there.

yeah this is def a fuel pump issue. Haven't heard to many issues on here about fuel pumps? Do u have to drop the tank to get it out? I would to confirm spray some started fluid in the intake and see if it still runs.

You know there was a recall for the fuel rail on 2010's right? My bet is the high pressure fuel pump with my second choice choice being the in tank pump. But definetly get that fuel rail replaced asap.

Access to the lpfp is under the rear seats. Unscrew the union nut and pretty much go from there.

Agreed with the recall.. If you haven't got it done, get the updated rails.

If your belt shredded your crank pulley is most likely toast.

yeah. I'd suggest calling 1-800-822-2834 and give them your VIN and they can check if there are any outstanding recalls for your car and if it has any extended warranties for known issues. I did this last night around 2am central US time I think and they were able to let me know my car had no issues w/ the airbag in a matter of a minute or less. Great piece of mind for anyone that may have purchased used or is thinking of doing so.

Also even easier. You can go onto audiusa.com and check for open recalls with your vin as well.

You're correct that's the issue - now it's at the dealer under CPO repair. Hopefully this one lasts 50k+ with the APR pulley.

Got the car back today. Low pressure fuel pump. They believe it was from the change of seasonal gas. Who knows 500 dollars later can't complain too much

how would changing gas mess up the pump? Unless there was a bunch of junk in the fuel and if that was the case I would be checking the fuel filters as well.

"They believe it was from the change of seasonal gas"? Sounds odd to me.

So how did they come to that conclusion?

but what is so different between gasses that a pump can "understand". it just keeps pumping regardless. it would have to be clogged and over worked and burned out.
