Got cash to burn...well some to burn (Reliability Suggestions)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I am already stage three and the TB and waterpump have been replaced in the last 15k, all motor/trans mounts, shifter, new clutch, CA's, and other various maint. Car is over 200k mi as of the last time I drove it. I'm looking at things that I could throw on the make my "OMG this thing is going to fail on me next time I floor it" feeling. Overall the car is in pretty good shape. It makes 4 hour journeys to the other end of the state on occasion, and did a 7 hour journey through a pretty intense snow storm (Thanks Continental for the traction).

    Crap I've already ordered:
    ECS diff mount
    Stern rear diff mounts
    ECS crank pulley
    After run sensor

    Will be buying:
    1 piece driveshaft
    Rear calipers
    Rotors and pads all around
    metal clutch slave
Some sort of Catch can setup

What else wouldn't be a bad thing to grab up. I have a habbit of replacing OEM parts with performance parts if they will increase the reliability of the car.

Fronts have been replaced in the last year. I check them quite frequently after I blew one apart on a launch cause the axle bolts had come loose. (flange was replaced as well)

Damn. Looks like you did a bunch. How about the little piece that holds the sun visor in place. Mine broke and it sucks when I get into boost and it hits me in the face.

Actually the hook is good but the visors little part that creates the friction holding it in has kind of broken off but the bar of it is still here.

Why not with the crank pulley?

No bags for me, already on coilovers. I have a set of wheels. Go is never done :D.

Second vehicle is in the works already.

I've played with a BBK, but $700-$1k for just the fronts feels like alot. I don't have many tracks around my house just a drag strip...It's Iowa lots of long open roads. It might help for panic stops a bit, but I've seen that its more on the reduction of fade that makes the difference for BBK's

He's probably referring to the lightweight crank pulley. Supposed to be bad for the engine. Throws harmonics off.

BBK is likely more than what's necessary. I'd just upgrade rotors and pads if brakes are something you're considering. After living in NE IA myself, id invest in a nice skid plate if you haven't already. You could always put some $ towards a set of Ohlins

Upgrade the TBB, fuel pump, replace the after run pump, coolant sensor, fan controller, repair/replace pcv assembly, valve cover gaskets, timing chain seals, replace the small power steering hose on the left of the pump on top of engine, new green check valves

That's probably a good start for reliability, all things I've personally done too

I'd have to agree on everything but the BBK. I finally was able to upgrade the front brakes w/ a TT-RS 370mms and its a world of difference, so much safer feeling to push it on the everyday commute and be able to stop these pigs. Running stage 3 power without upgraded brakes wasn't the best idea. My next step is to upgrade the rears to match, the ECS larger rotors and Hawk 5.0 pads for now I figured would add some bite I need to the rear to balance out the upgraded fronts. And OHLINS, that'd be the icing.

How about the rest of your suspension? You said you've done some control arms but there's a lot more to it

Only havent done the fan controller...

I have a skid plate, was my first upgrade. I have a rsb already as well. I'm doing all the brakes with stock rotors and Akebono or hawk pads. I also already have stainless brakelines.
