    Buying 2013-14 S6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello all. I've owned a few Audis, particularly a B6 S4 and an RS6. Looking at used S6s now.

Just trying to get a feel for the 2013-2014s. Anything that are must have options? Any serious maintenance issues with them? What to look for? Any good threads on here about specifics? If you know a good one for sale, please point me in that direction.

    THANK YOU

Hey welcome, and good luck with your purchase. Wish I could comment on solid recommendations, but since I just bought my 2013, not much to offer, but that I love it so far. I know what I've read, the night vision doesn't appear to be worth it. B&O is great, but not worth the extra price new, so when you're searching you're not going to see too many with B&O. I have the cold weather package, and since I live in CO, it's def good. I prefer the sport seats over the comfort seats, if it was by looks alone. LED headlights and driver assist were a must for me, and a non-wood grain interior. Really it's all about preference

Really these cars are all pretty much the same except for the few options I've mentioned, so you really can't go wrong from the option standpoint as I don't believe. Maybe others can chime in on things to look out for from a mech standpoint.

Do some research here, you find that topic has been discussed a few times. Good luck, and hold out for the price, color, and options you decide on

    30 to 35k on S6?
You must be talking about A6

agree, I been watching S6's for last two months and they are just now right around 50k nationally, unless they have really high miles, then you see them about 45k

We drive on the right down here, and our cars are different to what we can choose to have on them or not... however if you like toys on a car just try to find one in the colour and spec's you would like to see.

Things I would love to have

    HUD (mine doesnt)
ACC - Active Cruise Control (mine doesnt)
    Lane Assist (mine doesnt)
    Carbon trim (mine does)
    Flat Bottom wheel (mine doesnt...yet)
    LED Lights (mine does)
Self Park button (mine does...never use it)

Speakers / sound is all well and good and the preference for B&O over Bose is documented, however even if you can't track down one with B&O - replacing the bose amp with something like an Audison 8.9 bit can improve the sound quality hugely, some may say to above B&O levels as well.

The rest as far as colour, and wheels - that is a personal preference - so good luck and hopefully you find one you like the look of - they are great cars

For me the options were clear. I was buying a 13 or 14 because it needed to be under 55k. Ended up with a 13 with 19k miles, cpo for 48k$. You can get cheaper sure but at the sacrifice of options, miles or warranty. I needed:
    Sport seats
    Black headliner
Drive assist package, did not require night vision. Would have been cool but I needed adaptive cruise.
    Piano black or carbon interior
    Almost any color except red.
B/O was a nice to have. I probably should have made that a requirement but it will limit your options drastically. I put aftermarket sub in because the Bose is that bad. I was fine with the watered down b/o on my a4 fwiw. The Bose is terrible for this quality of car.

Option selection wise, same for me:
HUD(mine does...love it but could be better)
ACC - Active Cruise Control(mine does...good but could live without it)
    Side assist(mine does...love it)
    Lane Assist (mine does...hate it)
    Carbon trim (mine does...love it)
Flat Bottom wheel (mine doesn't...like the look of the flat)
Matrix Lights (mine does...love it) (not a US option)
    Self Park button (mine doesn't)
    Bose sound(mine does...good)
Soft close doors(mine does...nice but could live without it)
Rear seat heating(mine does...family wanted it)
Stock exhaust(mine does...too quiet but will change...)
Black headliner(mine does...must have with black seats)

Really like my Tornado Gray (MY16 color) with silver trim, silver mirrors and silver wheels.
2018 Audi RS6 Performance - Floret Silver, Titanium styling package, 21" titanium 5 V spoke wheels, Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 285/30/21, Black sports seats, Carbon inlays, Sports diff, Sport exhaust, Matrix LED headlights, 360 camera, Head up display, Active lane/side assist with adaptive cruise control, Park assist, Privacy glass, Electric tailgate with foot open

Mods: Dura-Seal exterior/interior, Audi Sport door lights

Bought in December. Tax free NH. Traveled to VA for the car but tax is based on where you register.

Nothing under 45k within 300 miles from where I live regardless of mileage of the car.
I was looking last year, but can't find good deal close by, so went with stage 2 tune on A6.

LOL....the car you are quoting has 65K on the clock and is the most base s6 you can get. Hence my previous statement concerning mileage......... 60-80K....thats a shit ton of miles on a 2.5 to 3 year old car. I paid just under 50 for mine with only 35K, meaning I still have plenty warranty left. To each is own, but I would never buy any used high end car without some sort of warranty in the beginning. And mind you I am also not referring to auction cars, we are talking retail.

Has anyone been to the dealer with the car in NY? I drive past it many times and regularly see Benz's with airbag suspension issues sitting on the floor...imagine the dealer fees once you actually walk in.

Are you talking about the one on Long Island in Great Neck? If so, I scheduled an appointment there but had my boss talk me out of it before the day came. The price was like 35K, which seemed like a steal. The sales manager on the phone didn't seem very knowledgeable. Plus, they were closed on Saturdays, but open on Sundays, which leads me to believe they were Hasidic Jews. Maybe it's because of where I live, but I've heard nothing but very poor business and civic practices, which throws a red flag for me. I'm sure many do not feel that way and I admit I'm biased.

I ended up getting a CPO with 39K miles for $51K and traded in my S5, plus got an Audi Care service thrown in. I don't regret the decision one bit, especially since I already had a warranty claim in the first week, just like my last CPO Audi. That car ran another 60K miles without issue.

My vin badge is stamped mid 2013.....LIke I said, Ive done my research and I wanted to be sure I had plenty warranty left. I am good for at least a year, but thanks for being on top of it for me.
