I'm just trying to find out whats the better choice. 18x8 or 18x8.5 both with 35 et. I have stock brakes, suspension and would run stock tire size 235/40.

I have my heart set on some peeler reps. I can't blame you for trying.

Now I just need to decide on silver or hyper silver. I'm leaning towards hyper silver.

+1. I have forgestar F14s in 8.5 ET 35.... perfect fit and 18" keeps the weight down compared to 19" and you get a little more rubber between you and the road.

Would a stock tire 235/40 be good enough 8.5 wheel?

38 offset max with 8.5" wide. Go with 8" if offset is 35.

8.5" with 35 offset will pass the front fender by few mm. It may not rub, but will look like the wheels do not fit the car. To have class, NEVER extend past the fender by ANY amount. I have 19x8.5, et 38 with 235/35 19 and they look PERFECT and CORRECT on the car.

Well I agree. I don't want any poke or stretch. I also want to try to avoid running spacers to get that flush look, but I want to try to be as close to flush as possible.

Everyone will have a different answer when it comes to "perfect". 8.5 et 35 is a very popular fitment. I've had many fitments -- 8 et 35 8.5 et 35 9.5 et 38 8.5 et 36

What I do know is if you don't so et 38 Concavitor will be very upset...

I was looking at some peeler reps. I like the hartmann reps, but can't see myself spending $1300 and then still have to get tires on top of that. For that I could get real peelers and have tires come with them. I just don't want 19s they are too heavy, I'm not going to lower the car and the roads are too rough here. The reps I was looking at come in 18x8 & 18x8.5 both 35et for under $600. Getting tires separate (depending on brand) and mounting I'm at or under $1300.

I didn't even think about the stretched and poked look until he mentioned it, but I'm glad he made me think about it. I googled and seen some pics of 8.5 35et on the b6 body and they give the look of what I want. With a slight chance of maybe still needing spacers in the back ( no poke or stretch). Other pics and they are stretched and poke out and I don't like that. Not saying it looks bad, just not my taste. Now I know with 18x8 I won't have that issue, but then I would have to get spacers to get that look I want and that could be by trial and error. Where getting 18x8.5 could give me what I want out the box. You damned if you do damned if you don't. That's the one down side about buy new wheels. The unknown as far as looks go, unless your copying someone else look.

Now the wheels I like the most are 18x8.5 and it list it fits the s4 and they do not come in 18x8. Now a similar one that's 18x8 said it fits the a4 and not the s4. Now that I don't get, if its the same body style.

Well a little update I came across set that have the same specs as the hartmanns 18x8 et32. I think may go with that over 18x8.5 et35. I am open to suggestions though.
