    turbo hoses to upgrade.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So i've decided I would like to do:

    option 1:
the turbo inlet pipe + intercoolerpipe delete (link to DIY)

    or
    option 2:
should i buy a bundle of the silicone turbo hoses (example)

my thoughts are to start with the first option unless im convinced otherwise :)

Option 2 does not get rid of the Sound box. Should consider either doing both or just buying the CTS IC kit.
i regret not buying the IC kit sooner and buying the hoses first.

well that price escalated quickly haha. just kidding. :)

this what you are referring to? http://www.ctsturbo.com/cart/product...P-2765-22.html

a bit pricy right now. Im assuming you would do that upgrade if you were going with the KO4 down the road? but i've im just happy with a perhaps a stage 1 chip, I could just go with my Option 1 or 2 above, right?

I'd go with Option 1 if you are content staying stage 1. Plenty of guys are running stock IC hoses, on upgraded FMICs, along with the soundbox delete DIY.

I went with option 1 and am very happy with the results. The bundle of hoses doesn't even get you the soundbox delete, you'd either still have to do that or get the HFIP for another $135. The biggest limiting factor is the intercooler itself, if you want to free up the airflow check out the thread on the treadstone IC installs. My out the door cost for the TR8C was under $200.

TR8C is the model of the intercooler by TREADSTONE. I'm looking to upgrade my intercooler as well. Go on Treadstone's website and check out the intercoolers they sell. You'll get caught up haha .

Thanks. So with the intercom let upgrade, would I need to chip the car as well? I'm still hesitant on stage 1ing my car. Would freeing up the turbo (with the hoses, inter cooler, DV etc), cause any issues with the longevity of the turbo it self? No check engine lights would come on with these substitute mods?

Anybody here have option 2 as posted above? I've been eyeing that kit for a while as I already have option 1 done. Those of you that do have it, what are your impressions?

I did it way back when. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't though. Not worth it imho. I actually pulled most of mine off when I put in my BFI FMIC, and went with hoses and joiners bought from eBay.

Even if you hadn't upgraded your intercooler, would it still not be worth it? Also, which kit did you purchase and did it come with the turbo "muffler" delete and if so, did you carry this part over to your new setup?

I had the CTS kit, came with the muffler delete. I still have that piece on, that'll work with stock turbo setups, but if you move up from that you'll have to get a new one.

This was one of the first things I did to the car, bought em on sale so it wasn't as bad. But I couldn't really say if it made a difference or not.

No, doesn't require a tune, though I suspect any gains would be more pronounced after being tuned (since it is pushing higher pressures).

I'll probably stick with stock hoses for now. Thanks for your input!

Option 3: save your money for something more worth while, these nods make no noticeable difference.
