You better hurry up and take care of that.. you don't want them chewing on wires and create a mess of your car.

+1. I saw a video of an R8, that had to have the engine removed, after a rat had eaten it's way through the wiring.

I definitely will try some of the advice you guys suggested, the funny thing is my front parking sensors stopped working yesterday..smh. I parked near a restaurant during the nights and then park in a lot during the day. I'm surprised these rodents stay there while the car is running.....

You will be rid of them soon enough. They like to chew on rubber hoses -- and they LOVE the taste of antifreeze. Too bad for them it kills them almost immediately.

You'll know they are dead when you drop your coolant all over the LIE, or your parking space because your car won't run due to eaten wiring.

The rodents, most likely rats, will eat the wire under the hood to use as in their nest.
I don't think they are staying while you drive, rather coming back to the car when you park.
Not sure how far you park from the restaurant, but I would suggest finding another overnight parking spot.

Have not had that in the car, but had a mouse die in my AC system for my house last summer. The smell was awful and took weeks to clear out. Get those rodents out of there!

If the rats are that consistent in that area then it might be time to find a new restaurant, maybe one that doesn't have rats?

My problem was mice. They ate their way though the bulkhead insulation/sound deadening padding.

Luckily they didn't actually eat any wiring.

Took about a week of setting the traps, got two then no more problems.

    haha this is oddly specific.

although i will counter and say, even if you were dropping coolant all over the LIE, you wouldn't be able to tell since they can't repair the potholes fast enough. Probably fill some in for the cars behind you.

The OP is from Brooklyn. I was simply guessing he spends time on the LIE. And my tongue was firmly in cheek about letting them chew on whatever they like until they get to the coolant hoses.

Where I live it's a lot things contributing to rats in the neighborhood. The subway for one, the Jamaican restaurant , couple houses on the block that don't cover the garbage bins and then the other apartment buildings that have tons of trash outside the day before trash day.....

Ok, so this might not be something you all know but VW changed a lot of their wiring covers to a soy based material instead of rubber. This is mighty tasty to the rodent crowd. My dad just recently had mice chew through his ecu harness on his A6. Working at the dealership this was more common than you might think. If you google this, youll see a lot more issues. Be careful out there.

    Rodents in engine compartment

Believe it or not, Audi actually makes an anti-rodent system their model lineup: Audi Anti-marten device

I stumbled on this a few months ago when digging through the accessory catalog and got a good chuckle. Yet, here we are, so.. lol.
