Hi. Trying to program a new key today. Have vcds and skc. I got an used keyfob with new blade in it and the ebay seller swear he put a new transponder in it. I dont believe its the case because my working key readapted just fine but this so called new one wont adapt to save my life. Looked up the transponder need i think its called a megamos t6 id 48 magic 2. Questions are, a. I guess these transponder chip are only good for one time use to the original car? B, is there any difference between a megamos t6 id 48 magic 1 and magic2? Most ebay listing does not specify which version of "magic" it is.
    Thanks.

#1. Yes. The RFID transponder can only be adapted to one single Immo system. But it can be repeatedly adapted to it's original Immo system many times. The chip becomes 'bit-locked' to the original Immo. In MBV of the cluster you can determine if the chip is able to be adapted or not:

The value in field 3 must be 1. If value is not 1, the key is not capable of being adapted to Immobilizer.
You can check each key in this manner.
Odds are if you bought a USED remote that the chip is no good, can't be re-used.

#2. I don't even know what he's referring to with the "magic 1" or "magic 2" reference. That's nonsense. But the Megamos T6/ 48 chip should adapt to the Immo just fine if it's new.

I have a handful of these Megamos chips if you end up needing one.

You do not want a value of '3" , you want the value in FIELD 3 to be "1" . If it is not "1" then the transponder cannot be adapted. I just verified that the chips I have are virgin, they read "1" in field 3; so they should work in most A4's until 2008, A6 until ...have no idea. Through 05' though.
