2014 AUDI S5 pull to the right

    I have a 2014 Audi S5 Estoril Blue.

I noticed a slight pull to the right few months ago and didnt bother much. Later i noticed my front passenger tire really getting worned out on the outer edge. The othe tires seems wearing normally. So i checked up the alignment and got feedback indicating it only needed small tweak.

Few days after that i still felt the pull, but now i was confused if the worn tire was causing the pull. So i finally ended up replacing all my tires for new ones.

I didnt perform alignment to check if the pull was reduced or went away (since my alignment was done about month before tire change).

I took it to another alignment place and they indicated my wheels are very close to alignment, however he indicated my caster is off and it cannot be adjusted. I looked back at my previous alignment and it said caster is fine. The Mechanic also said he couldnt remove the pull because it was due to the caster which cannot be adjusted.

Has anyone had this issue. I seriously want to know if its electronic steering alignment issue or some wheel misalignment issue. If i take it to dealership i know they will say alignment issue and i am sure i will end up with a pull and they will be like, this is normal and crap.

I am attaching a snap of the wheel alignment check (since i didnt do it).

curious to hear experiences from Audi owners.

Camber and caster is fixed on these vehicles. Only way to adjust camber is if you install adjustable control arms. You can really only adjust toe from the factory. If the tire is cupped at all it can cause the vehicle to pull to one side. Also double check your tire pressure is where it's supposed to be. A slow leaking tire can cause a vehicle to pull to one side as well.

Does it pull in any specific circumstances? (uneven surfaces, during accell/decell)

I had a similar issue and it was a mix of a few things:
Tire pressure was a little uneven
Alignment was a decent amount off in rear, causing the car to track to the right a little.
Fixed pressure and did an alignment, and it improved a decent amount, however it was still pulling to the right during accell/decell over uneven surfaces- so I took it to my shop and had them disable DSR (Driver Steering Recommendation). Theory is that the other elements were being compounded by DSR, figuring it was reading the road poorly and compensating even more poorly.

Not only is the issue gone, but the car feels 100% better and more connected to the road.

    Thanks Jason,

The tires are a week old. I just got them replaced. So i dont think its issue with tire or tire pressure. Alignment is what is shown in the picture.

    dnchattan,
    Thanks for the response.

DSR is interesting. i might need to take it to Audi to see what it is and convince them Alignment is good.

I just dont want any issues to the bearing and suspension system. I have air damping and rear differential (not sure if that has any effect).

Bottom line up front: double check the tires' weight and balance. I know it seems like a long shot, but...

I had a similar experience with my 09 A4 about two years ago. After a dealer replaced my tires, the car would practically change lanes in about 150 ft because the pull was so hard to the right. I had the dealer conduct about 6 different alignments, with me actually observing the last three. Even though all of the readouts showed everything was within tolerance, the pull was still substantial.

After about a month of trying to figure this out, the dealer and I were both extremely frustrated (at the car and each other). I took the car on a work trip and visited another dealer. The new tech quickly noticed the weight and balance were completely off on two of the tires. Once we fixed that, and re-checked the alignment, the car was smooth as silk.

If so, go back to the tire shop and shoot the operator in the face.

There's nothing you can do about the camber or caster angles unless you fit adjustable arms but the toe angles are a mile off and they are most certainly adjustable and yours are completely off.

Do you know of a reputable garage in your area, either he hadn't hung the rig on the wheels correctly or he just doesn't know what he's doing.

It honestly looks like they didn't even touch your car, based on the before and after...I just recently had my car aligned due to me changing out the motor mounts, and afterwards it was pulling to the right. Out of curiosity I rotated that front right tire to the rear, pulling stopped, after getting properly aligned and if still pulling I would check the tires.
