You should be ok. Once the breather is replaced ( with 034motorsport) you need to plug it. This is auxiliary breather outlet.

What does the breather look like. Is it the hose in the first pic that goes connected.

Having just looked at the first picture I would have guessed the smaller branch coming off the valve cover at the back, but you can clearly see in your other pictures that there is already a small hose attached to it.

I think this is the hose assembly.

That little branch actually has a cap on it. It looks like a hose but it's an end cap or something.

I believe it is this hose circled in red.

    Found it here.

As yasiu_k said if you have the 034 kit I think they cap that port on the valve cover and do not use that hose anymore.

I don't even know if I have that 034 kit. I bought the car like 2-3 weeks ago and he never mentioned anything about that. As long as it's not gonna hurt the car then I won't worry about it. Thanks for all the info.

Your 3-way hose isn't silicone, so if its the 034 pcv and hose, it's not the whole kit. Look to see if any of the hoses are silicone. You're probably fine, but I'd want to know what kind of modifications have been made to my PCV system if I were you.

Wow, someone butchered the eff out of that. Not even close to what it is supposed to look like.

I'd be concerned about what is in the hole in your TIP if the pancake valve is near the valve cover.

they changed the pancake to the back of the valve cover in late 03 early 04.

you can see someones been in there doing some PCV work, I'd be curious if that hose needs to be plugged or not, it should be plugged in on the back of the valve cover where the cap is on the small line or shove a golf tee in it or something if its causing a vac leak. I think you've got to do more digging to see what kind of PCV work was done on the car and if the right year parts were used.

You are right it is not the 034 kit. Judging by the coupling in the back they replaced the plasitic pipe with some rubber hose. They may have deleted the small hose that comes from the valve cover to the block breather. If you look through the manifold you should see it. Part circled in red is what they may have deleted.

So i talked to the guy that sold me the car and he said his mechanic did that because the hose under the intake needed to be replaced. But that it doesn't affect the car in any way. The car runs fine with no CEL. And it just passed smog so I guess I'm good. Unless you guys think otherwise.

Sounds like a foolish SMOG testing location! Anything other than stock in California shouldn't be able to pass the visual check. You got "lucky" haha.

Maybe I can help you out a little here. You have an '05 so your 1.8T came with this PCV valve. It's actually a PCV valve with a secondary breather combined into one unit. It's the same thing shown in the pic that Let it snow posted above.

On earlier models ('02 and early '03) there was only a PCV valve and no secondary breather line. Consequently the PCV valve looked like this.

And it plugged into a hose that looked like this.

So if you replace the combination PCV/secondary breather valve with an early model PCV valve you no longer need the secondary breather line that plugged into the back of the valve cover. Consequently the secondary breather tube on the back of the valve cover needs to be plugged off.

You need to take a look underneath your intake manifold and see if your PCV combination valve has been replaced with a "T" hose and early model PCV valve. If so, you are good to go.
