    Possible head problems

I have a 2003 A4 1.8T. I have a coolant leak coming from the head gasket. I was wondering if I should take this opportunity to upgrade cams while I have the head off trying to find the location of the coolant like. And if so what are some good options for cams. There is no other engine work done on the car as yet. I have had it for about a month and a half. Thank you for your input.

If there's nothing wrong with the existing cams there's no need to change them.

I plan on building the engine so that's why I was wondering if I should upgrade the cams while the head is off.

Depends what your plans are with the build. I'd wait til you decide what setup to go with before touching the cams.

Get the head leak tested as well. You could have just a blown gasket or you may have a crack or pin hole in the casting.

450hp range check out the integrated engineering cams. They have a chart that shows what range the cams are for on their website.

Thanks for the info and I plan on going through the head with a fine tooth comb.
