he says it occurs when he launches at 3k, 4k, or 5k.
he also mentions his friend s3 with apr tune has the same issue.

i've done at least 3 back to back launches in my stock s3 @ 4k. no issues or overheat messages in DIS.

willing to bet arin does not show his face on this one.

I still don't think its a good idea to do repeated launches on an Audi/Vw DSG, and then throw in some 5K ones in the mix. From what I've read, Porsche PDKs are designed for that kind of abuse, Audi/Vw DSGs are not.

    Straight from the Owners Manual:

"The transmission temperatures may increase significantly after using the Launch Control Program. If that happens, the program may not be available for a few minutes. It will be available again after a cool-down periond.
-When accelerating using the Launch Control Program, all vehicle parts are subject to heavy loads. This can lead to increased wear."

And yes, the message will come on the dash in a STOCK vehicle when the temperature is high enough to warrant it.

Can we please move onto a serious topic, instead of people not understanding that beating on their cars has consequences?

I have done several launches on my stock DSG, at the track. Never had an issue, but I did wait in between passes, at least 15min.
I think a lot of times the issue happens when ignorant people abuse, and expect the hardware to withstand abuse.

He says it occurs 100% of the time even at 3k. on the other hand iv'e been able to do 3-4 launches consecutively at 4k with stock, and i've never seen the light
    I told u people would cry .__.

Markn everybody, or has his friends and family call him, "touchdown", because he's got just a touch of the downs...

Right after I finished the break-in period, around 1200 miles or so on the clock, I did my first set of back to back launch control runs when the car was 100% stock. It was near summer, and about 95F outside...while I was holding launch control on the second run, I got the transmission overheat message and the car shut down. Car was 100% stock.

Even Stage 1 power increases output substantially over stock, so it's not at all surprising that back to back runs would cause the message to come back in the right conditions. I have no troubles w/ APR Stage 2 and the TCU tune. I went out and did 3 back to back runs the night I was upgraded to 2.0.1 and didn't have any issues, it was also 60F outside.

Nobody takes you seriously because it seems like you spend large chunks of time Googling APR problems. Look, I can do the same thing with Unitronic, GIAC, and Revo:

They ALL have users who end up having issues, APR included, it's part of tuning a vehicle beyond it's factory capabilities. Nobody cares man. Get on with your life and quit spamming the forum with this crap.

While on the subject of Launch Control, has anyone with a OEM tuned DSG noticed a slow shift when letting the trans shift itself at redline? Mine is pretty noticeable, as if it's a manual trans.

Yep, funny you mention this, I had the same observation. Now I try to 'catch' it just before the redline and shift via the paddles. Since I don't do launch controls that often I don't really mind.

Same here, I rarely do them. I'll probably make the same adjustment you did and manually shift before redline to eliminate that. What I can't figure out is if something is *slightly* up with the trans or if it's just not "fast" to me anymore. Interesting to hear I'm not the only one to notice this.

i had the same DSG behavior when i was stage 2 with a stock DSG. The tune got rid of it.
