Okay, so got my power steering issues resolved and now I'm on to the next problem. My Aux radiator and AC fan do not work. Some background:
I modified my in cabin tiptronic harness with the appropriate changes, including removing the TCU (left the connectors there). I did cut the connectors that went to the auto trans and sealed them with liquid electrical tape.
I used a 6 speed manual engine harness.
I am also using a 6 speed M-Box ECU.
I have gone through what I thought was a pretty thorough checkout of the fans:
1. Plugged both fans directly into 12VDC. They both turn on.
2. Used the VAG-COM to try and manually start V7 Fan. Nothing.
3. Made sure fuse 42 (60A) was good and then checked voltage at the FCM. Reading 12VDC.
4. Tried to jumper 1-2 pins at fan control switch (lower heater hose). No fans operate.
5. Had a spare FCM (older style, not sure if good or not) and the fans still do not operate.
So here's my thought. I have been digging though the wiring diagrams and have found one discrepancy between the 6 speed and tiptronic. It's an additional fuse S198 (5A). I do not have this fuse. It looks like the signal goes to the same place on both the manual and the tiptronic (A17 at the instrument cluster and pin 2 of black plenum connector T10m), although on the tiptronic is also shows it going to the generator (alternator). Any tips would be helpful. Super frustrated.
