    2014 B8.5 S4 Brake Replacement Options (Pads + Rotors)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello everyone,

I own a 2014 B8.5 S4 with around 24k miles currently due for brakes replacement. I'm still using OEM Pads, front (3mm), rear (5mm) according to the dealer. The brake pads light comes on if I do any hard stop since last week.

What are my options for replacing my brake pads and rotors (if needed):
    • No Track Use
    • Cold Weather (Maryland)
    • Daily Usage
    • Would prefer OEM stopping power

Who makes the OEM S4 pads ?

Anyone using AKEBONO ceramic pads in cold weather ?

Anyone using the Centric Posi Quiet pads from Tirerack ?

I just replaced all 4 pads and rotors at 62K miles. I put on 4 all new OEM rotors, and Stoptech Ceramic pads. You could alternatively use Akebono, or Wearever Gold ceramic pads. Wearevers will be cheapest. Regardless, they will all stop well enough for street use. Brake dust and squeal will be gone!My Stoptech have the same stopping power, but initial bite is less than OEM. I noticed the difference for the first week . After that, I guess I just got used to the new feel. I live 50 miles north of Phila, so I have been driving in the cold with no brake issues.

Akebono on factory rotors for me. No issues in MD. Daily use and no track. Love the no dust factor, that's the reason I switched.

Live in MN (our weathers are worse than yours) and I use the Akebono euro ceramic pads. Most of the B8 and B8.5 audi guys I believe here in MN use them as a daily driver option. I love them. Yes, you will notice a slight decrease in initial bite, but after about a day of driving your mind will automatically adjust and won't even notice the difference as it is such a slight adjustment. Overall these are a great option and I will be replacing these with new akebono's once these pads wear out, but that won't be for a while. I highly recommend them.

    Thanks for the comments!

I'm decided on the Akebono Ceramic Pads.

    Front: EUR1322A
    Rear: EUR1018

Are these the correct part numbers ? I noticed the Rear pads set doesn't include the clip, is this a concern?

I'm still undecided on rotors... I hate the way the OEM rotors look, specially how rusty they get. I'm currently leaning towards Drilled/Slotted rotors. Any recommendations ? The ECS 4 are out of my price range...

I hope those are the right numbers, that's what I put on my car last week.....

as far as rotors. look at the ECS geomet rotors (come in both slotted only [my recommendation] or drilled and slotted), rock auto has the stoptech slotted and drilled (respectively) for a great price, and then there is always adams rotors so you can select your own design.....

If you are set on getting some drilled or slotted rotors i'd also suggest the stoptech drilled. They overlap the holes which help prevent or reduce ribbing.

Just wanted to chime in on akebono and the google search for pertinent threads led me here...
just swapped the fronts out to the ceramics and holy shit do they make a difference in almost no dust.
I used to wash the car and drive to the store and you'd already see a haze of dust. Now, a week after a
wash you can't really tell the wheels are dirty. Which is good because the car color doesn't show dust
    much either.

I swap all my car brakes out for ceramic. Other than a slight pause in grip compared to semi metallic when cold no performance difference. Check out rockauto.com for parts before buying as a price comparison.
