Which mode do you drive in?

I've always only had manuals. Then I got a v10 m5 with a terrible smg transmission in D mode so I only drove it with paddles in manual mode.

I've been seeing what I like most in this transmission and I think I like S for myself, D when people are in the car. I don't know how I feel about M mode but I feel like I should be using it to keep my hands busy! I also like how the exhaust sounds more aggressive in S mode

So what do you mostly drive in?

Similar experience here. Came from an e63 m6 and always drove in manual mode. I'm still acclimating to this car, but so far I have been driving in D most of the time. I like S, but the downshifts are rough when just driving in the city. I'm curious if people see a noticeable decrease in mpg in S since it seems to keep revs higher.

I've tried manual and it's not bad... The shifter up/down is reversed from BMW and I want to swap it for the '16 shifter. I think I may get extended paddles also, they seem short. I miss the thickness of the m6 steering wheel and paddle size though.

Yeah the shifters are too short to me too!

I wonder if the tcu tune makes s better.

I drive in D or manual mostly. When I'm in D I'll change to S mode when I want to pass or engine brake down a long steep hill. My car has the Unitronic's tune and it pulls well even in seventh gear. Flooring it in sports mode is just insane and usually leads to the traction light flickering, and a big grin on my face.

D and comfort mode... in S all hell breaks loose! In some occasions I might drop it to manual and shift myself...

Mostly in D unless I'm on some route to have fun drive especially that I will put everything in dynamic and S. With now I have Miltek Non-res, I would be branded a troublemaker in my neighborhood if I drive in S all the time! LOL

Mostly in D, but as it warms a bit more in manual. The TCU tune makes manual mode changes nice and fast.

always in D unless I'm on a fun road, stop light drag or passing. The factory just did an update to the latest ECU and TCU tune and it made a world of difference. I can only imagine what the APR or GIAC TCU tune would do.

D is default; regular and frequent flicks of the RS cue ball shift handle into and out of sport mode. Sport mode is in-the-moment devil mode for real or perceived threats and opportunities for spankings.

'D' while it is warming up. When it the temp indicator is at normal (even though I know the oil is still not at ~205), I use 'M' all the time. If I am in traffic, sometimes I will be in either 'D' or 'S' depending on the density.
I use individual most of the time (essentially dynamic except suspension is in comfort mode), and of course dynamic when I am driving "aggressively."

'D' while car is warming up. Soon as rev limiter goes up i'm in 'S'. I sometimes use 'D' when i'm in traffic if its stop and go.

When you put the transmission in S what is happening? It seems to me that the transmission is holding each gear for a longer period of time (higher RPM's) before it shifts up. Is it more complicated than that?

I know my exhaust sound changes dramatically when in S versus D. I have the AWE Touring exhaust so not sure if that happens with stock exhaust as well. Love the sound, awesome. Mostly drive in auto mode with S sport unless I get in traffic then go back to normal D.
