    Ditch the winter wheels?

It's March 12th in Chicago and I'm thinking I need to put on the summer tires already, too early? Discuss...

FWIW, I was tempted to switch since last week we saw all time highs (70-80F) here in the Northeast. It's now stabilized to 40-60F and I think I will hold out a little longer to give the city time to fix all the giant pot-holes damaged from winter/snow plows.

Same dilemma - But i think im going to hold off for another couple weeks.
Temps are supposed to dip down to the mid 30s around night time and i do tend to drive at random times at night.

    Nein! Nein! Nein!

I could see in another week for Chi-town but here in northern Wisconsin we can see snow into late April.

I switched to my summer setup yesterday. It still gets pretty cold at night, but I'm hoping there's no snow.

I wait until April every year, even if it's already been 70*+. Summer tires suck in sub 45* weather in general and we always have some cold days right through March. Up here in Milwaukee, we've got the chance for several inches of snow starting Wednesday into Thursday so I'm glad my policy worked out again this year. I am anxious though and will be making the switch the first weekend in April.
Do it right, or don't bother.

Definitely gave the summer tires a winter workout. I have had to drive through Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota in 20-30 degree weather, luckily not through snow. Surprised by the more than decent grip as I felt no signs of slipping nor sliding at speeds up to 120mph.
Next year I may wait a little longer to put on the summers, we'll see.
