    Brakes! Help!

Hello bit of a noob to forum here but nonetheless I'm looking for insight /advice on brakes for my 2001 S4. Starting to get some vibration when I brake so I know the rotors are starting to warp and it's time to replace. I see some people used Porsche, A6, stop tech, Adams rotors, and a whole slew of other combinations. The local German car specialists quoted me with Zimmerman rotors and WBR ceramic pads (~350 for the front pads+rotors, 180 for rear). Wondering what you guys had luck with and what you would recommend. My car is my daily driver but I do drive aggressively every now and then. Unlikely I will make it a track car. But if I can get a good deal on the right parts you never know...

Are you sure the shaking is not coming from worn front control arms/bushings/tie rod ends? I had a case where the tie rod ends were worn and that actually caused a vibration during braking. Maybe get the front of the car up and check them out before dishing out cash on all new brakes.

If you decide to get brakes, I would shop around online for prices. I have a drilled set from a place in California called R1 Concepts. Good prices, good product - for like 4 years still going. But it depends on your braking needs/wants.

A lot of times vibration from brakes can be built up rust on the edges of the brake rotor surface

those prices sound okay. Any blank rotors should work for your application. pad should work although its a heavy car, if you drive it harder i'd move more in the direction of track pads, but people's definition of 'driving hard' varies wildly.

Thanks for the help. Just swapped over to my summer tires today. No play in any of the steering or suspension and all looks good underneath. Funny enough the vibration seems to be much lower with the bigger wheels?? However the brake pad light just came on! I think I'll just do a standard replacement for now. Any good feedback from Adams rotors or Urotuning??

    Brakes! Help!

Just get yourself some centric carbon blank rotors ($~50) and good pads. Pads will depend on your style of driving but I'd recommend ebc red stuff. Less brake dust good bite. Good for DD. if it's weekender track car, go with something more aggressive.

In the end, your extra stopping power will come from the pad... Not the rotors. Drilled/slotted rotors just look cool and eat up your pads quicker.
