    Painting grille gloss black

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my front grille got damaged and at the time I couldn't find an oem replacement for under $150 so I purchased an aftermarket OEM replacement from Turkey on eBay. It's fit and finish is oem quality but... the color is the older C6 matte grey. I've decided to paint it gloss black because that's the color of my previous one. I've thought of plasti dipping it but from the results I've seen in pictures, the plasti dip glossifier doesn't seem to make the gloss black pop out enough. So, with that being said, what type of gloss black paint would you recommend that would be closest if not THE look of the this grille:

I plasti dipped my previous 07 Acura TL's grille with Antharcite color. I applied 5 coats and it gave the grille great protection against stone chips and road debris. However, it is hard make plasti dip look glossy as regular paint...

Which is why I'm asking what paint(spray paint, etc) will give my my desired results. I've already decided not to use plasti-dip.

Krylon fusion is good since it binds well to plastics. But if you want a real durable finish (And I think you do with a grille), you should try VHT Epoxy All Weather

VHT is definitely my favorite brand of paint. They make all the best specialty finishes. Worth it in my book.

(BTW I wish I knew you were wanting one of these grilles, I want to sell my 2009 OEM and would likely have gone down to $150; I'm going with an RS-style soon)
Danton Black: 2009 Audi C6.5 A6 Sedan (Quattro, 3.0T, Prestige)
    I miss my Avant, longing for a 2011 3.0T
    Dead:
Griselda, aka Grizzy: 2007 Audi C6 A6 Avant (Quattro, S-Line)

Just some small cosmetic mods while getting to Stage 0

I used this for painting my fog grilles. It was simple and came out well.

I had them dipped at first (just like my sline grille). But once I installed my gloss black RS grill I redid them and they matched much better.
Note: I did sand the plastic fog grilles so they would be smooth.

You can use matte black plasti dip and then apply 2 coats of the plasti dip gloss. It'll make it glossy black just like the picture you posted.

This. That's what I did, it looked good.

I just get bored and like to tinker sometimes. It made for a nice easy Sunday afternoon project.

Clear coat my friend! That's exactly what you need! I put it on mine to get an amazing gloss finish over the old stock grille!
