NGP is running the Texas Mile, and you could win!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

New German Performance is competing in the Texas Mile next month and YOU could win big! We will be taking our MK6 Golf R and C7 S6 down to the April 1-3 event in Beeville, TX to see where they stack up against some of the fastest, highest-horsepower cars in the country. Both cars are built for speed and we have high hopes of laying down some competitive runs that you VW and Audi enthusiasts will be proud of. We will be posting photos and videos of the event as it happens and afterwards, but to get you more involved, we're giving away a $100 NGP gift certificate to the person who correctly guesses the top speed each vehicle achieves during the event*. Entering the contest is easy: simply send an email to [email protected] with your guesses for each vehicle. Entries must be received by 12:00am on April 1st. For more information about the event, visit www.texasmile.net.

*One winner will be chosen per vehicle. If more than one entrant correctly guesses the top speed, the winner will be selected randomly from the pool of correct guesses.

I agree...over 180mph is my guess. Still that is freaking fast for over 4000pound tank.

    R should be over 170mph

Spero you did not do the RS6 rear quarters did you?

Also what are the specs on your wheels that allow you to run such wide tires with 285 width?

Side skirts and rear 1/4 panel, no reason to touch door. The RS6 Avant is very streamlined in its rear fenders to the front. It also has pronounced front fenders to its rear, so I designed that same streamline into the sedan. My goal was to create something that came from the factory.

Thanks Spero....Like I said, Alex @EP sent me a quote that included the doors because he said the doors included some of the flare. Well that would mean that I would just need the quarters and rear bumper cover. That saves me some good $$$$!!!!

You need to remember that your mixing OEM RS6 Avant (wagon with different rear and extra pillar) to a sedan. You will be opening a huge can of worms to make all this work (sedan parts do not exist)....We can discuss offline if you like. Are you doing OEM RS6 front bumper and front fenders like I did?

Yes I am going to do the front and rear. I got to have the complete wide body and I need to be able to run at least a 10.5 inch wide wheel. I really want to run an 11 inch wide wheel if possible but 10.5 will be the minimum.

If you followed us on social media over the weekend, you saw that we suffered mechanical issues with the Golf R during prelim runs and decided not run it in the event. In light of that we decided to award two $100 NGP gift certificates to the two who most closely guessed the top speed of the S6, which hit a top speed of 179.8mph in the mile. We are going through the submissions this morning and will be contacting and announcing the winners later today.

Congrats guys! Amazing results! I am assuming that the slip shows 1/4, 1/2, and mile... with the almost 128mph on non dedicated 1/4 mile is proof that this is a 10sec car no doubt!

RS7 was completely stock, and was consistently about 7-10 secs slower in the 1/2mile and about 5-6 secs slower in the 1 mile.

Indeed, we were very proud of the numbers we put up (and the cars that we were faster than). It's got us thinking about future mile events.

As for the wheels on the S6: I've got a few, but I will let Spero post before I jump in. And believe me when I say, they are worth the suspense.

    .

How does a stock RS7 run ~2 MPH faster than your souped up RS6 (181.7 vs 179.8)?

It's obviously not stock. It's APR Stage 1.

What I find more interesting is you were faster than her at both the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile yet she was faster at the mile. Any idea why that is? I'm thinking gearing or aerodynamics. While those expensive RS6 aero parts you added may look cool, they're making your car less aerodynamic. The RS6 has a brick-like CD of 0.352 vs the RS7's 0.30 with both cars having identical frontal areas. I wonder how much of that drag is from the wagon's shape and how much of it is from its aero.

The other possibility is the gearing on the RS7 is better for acceleration at higher speeds.

The last possibility is your AMS cooler setup isn't really as good as you think it is. If it's not doing as good a job at lowering IATs as the RS7, it would make sense that you'd be faster at the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile but by the time the mile is completed, the IATs have gone up and power has been dialed back, resulting in the slower mile speed than the RS7.

    Clarification to VoI 4.0t Assumptions

Its very simple, my car did not run on 4/1 (which apparently was the best day since very strong tailwind). My car easily would of been over 185mph, so not slower.

You chose to look at the data with certain blinders on, which not only creates confusion for you but the forum member also. If you look at all the runs between both cars starting on 4/2 & 4/3 you can easily see that the RS7 was roughly 5 miles slower at the end of the mile.

As far as the car being stock, that is what owners told me who were very lovely people.

AMS cooler setup ROCKS and the data logging showed that....When comparing the IATS from our 1/2 mile event on a much colder day using the OEM setup to the 1 mile event with a hotter day it was shocking how well this system works.

Just so everyone understands, when both cars ran on the same days under the same conditions ... RS6 Project Beast was roughly 7 secs quicker at the 1/2mile and roughly 5 secs quicker at the 1 mile.

Based on these results, gearing or transmission difference between the cars may be negligible.

What we found based on WOT logging for a mile, this set up has much more left on the table while staying within safety limits.

    [QUOTE=VoI 4.0t;11575984]How does a stock RS7 run ~2 MPH faster than your souped up RS6 (181.7 vs 179.8)?
