    New Paint Job?!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I've got a silver b5 and its actually 50 shades of silver.
The two front fenders and the back left door are a dull silver that come on the stock a4s, the hood, rest of the doors and trunk are all a metallic silver that is tougher to the touch. (Which I like)

I just gave the car to my body guy and I'm about to spend 2,000 on a full body job to fix and dings, dents, scratches, rust and restore the paint and buff it out.

Heres the thing, I can't do any colour I want, it has to be a shade of silver because the work would be less, thus, making it easier for my pockets lol.

So I am thinking.. DARK METALLIC SILVER.

A darker silver with metallic flakes would look amazing on this car and I really need you guys to help me find a paint code.

So I want everyone to share with me different paint codes of a dark metallic silver and I will announce which one I choose.

    Thank you!

Just repainted mine with original metallic silver (LY7M) and it really looks good. Nicely shows off the subtle lines of the car. Just in case you decide on a natural silver color.

Somebody on here did a B5 in a pretty dark gray. I think it was an optional Euro color and it was really nice. It might have been Agate Gray (LY7L):

Thank you so much for this lol, you're like the only person who actually helped in finding a darker shade of silver for the car.
People are saying blue red green and yellow :s .

    This car is amazing.

Calling a metallic gray a silver is a very big stretch. Might as well call pelican blue silver. Your door jams and bay still wont even be close.

And I'm sorry but no silver car will ever be> as 9 out of 10 are silver on b5s and majority of new cars. Blending in is no thanks. And I've had 3 silver cars so far so it's not like I'm bias.

Lol you got a point but thats the whole point of this thread, I wanted to see someone give me a paint code or colour that had a darker silver. Gray metallic is the closest i've seen. For some reason a dark metallic silver is yet to be painted..

Lol it can be at times but tbh, silver brings out every sharp edge, curve and aerodynamic cuts in the car opposed to a black or white.
Try saving up and changing the colour!

Lb7z. Look it up It's rediculous for a boring silver. Almost turns white in certain lights.

Also the scion flat gray from late model tcs!!!!. Most of us early posters suggesting colors were giving u a hard time lol. I read the first post.

That vw colour is sort of similar to what I have but that scion flat gray is pretty nice.

The best thing ive seen so far is that guy who did the gray metallic ^ ^ earlier in this post.
I need that but just 1 shade lighter.

if he is painting the whole car, a color change should be the same price as silver as long as you dont get the door jambs and engine bay resprayed. if your body guy wants to charge more, find another shop. he is limiting FIDDY SHADES OF GREIGH for no reason.

If you could do the Daytona Gray, but lighten it a little bit, that might be the ticket. It's not going to match the jambs, but nothing will unless you spray it the same color.

Yea changing the colour forces him to go in to the jams but not the engine bay. LOL fiddy shades of greigh
