Thumbs up APR stage 1 tune

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone on here have a APR stage 1 tune? From what i know, i believe it is just a ECU remap correct? When you purchased the remap, did they provide an additional device like COBB's accessport to revert the mapping back to stock? Was the device additional cost?

After you did remap to stock, were the Audi techs able to tell in anyway that the ECU was remapped?

What is your overall experience with the tune? Any unusual side effects?

what would you give it out of 5 stars?

    Thanks

APR does not have a flash at home capability. You need to go to a dealer to swap flashes. All the Tunes are about equal. So its a matter of if you want the ability to flash at home or not. Maybe you have access to E85? Things like that are what you need to consider. Price also.

I'm not tuned, but lots of people on here are. They don't have something like the accessport. If you want to go back to stock you have to go to a shop that is an APR dealer. I think they have a dongle to change maps but you can't go back to stock (you can switch between 91, 93, 104 maps etc) - I might be mistaken with that though. If you want to be able to flash from home there are a couple options, like unitronic

EPL & Unitronic offer tuning available from home with a cable. They also allow you to revert back to stock at any time. I have EPL Stage 2 and I highly recommend it!

    APR stage 1 tune here.

5 out of 5 stars, side effects include excessive smiles and increased bragging.

But there's lot of competition out there, some have more features, some are cheaper.

Unitronic for the win. They've been around for ever and VW/Audi is their game.

I would wait and see what COBB has to say. I heard they were coming out with something for our cars.

The new version 3 APR tunes are night/day difference over stock. Put some E85 in the tank and stop thinking so much and have fun.

Drawbacks include silly grins, and worn out clutches.

Look into a Chipwerk. Not as smooth as a flash tune, but completely undetectable once removed and a fraction of the price. Nearly the same gains as stage 1. Search, there is a whole thread on it.
