    Soft Close Retrofit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I tried doing a search on the possibility of retrofitting my S6 with soft close doors. Couldn't find anything so I thought I would ask here.

I ordered my car premium plus so it didn't come with them. Does anyone know what all is involved in making my doors soft close? Hardware and software. Or is it even possible?

I have just purchased some soft close parts to fit to my A6 Avant. You need :
    New locks
New door modules for all 4 doors if yours do not support soft close facility
    Internal motors x 4
    Motor housings
    Additional wiring to power motors

    Rest is some coding .
A7 has a different drivers door lock so be careful what you might buy as a ready made kit.

Wow. After reading the thread and what you have here, I can see it's going to be quite a project. Did source your parts via eBay or did you by them from the dealer?

I actually managed to get a full set of doors with soft close, kessy, ambient lighting, rear side window blinds, folding topview/side assist mirrors leather handles. for only £250 or about $285. Picked them up yesterday and have just stripped them down tot he bare shells and will sell off the bits individually.
If you can get the parts then its actually an easy retrofit to do. Compared to the topview system i have just fitted which involved removing lots n lots trim.

Check ebay.de for them. I believe there is a complete set currently for sale. Or find the parts individually. Its just the lock mechanism that cost a lot the rest are 'cheapish'

May I ask why this is so important to you that you want to spend the money to retro fit them? Seems like a very low priority item to me...but that's me, of course.

It's NOT important to have it...just something you can work on to improve your vehicle.

I'm upgrading my RS7 taillights....its certainly not critical or important to have dynamic turn signals but its just fun to do the work and something to do and bond with your car.

Plus...its so cool to have dynamic turn signals....

Certainly, I have never had soft close doors so I had no idea what I would be missing out on and I didn't order them. A great friend of mine recently picked up a new S7 that has the soft close doors. After listening to him speak so highly of them, I decided it's something I would really whi having now as well.

Wish there was someone nearby in San Diego that I could pay to have them installed once I buy the parts.

Just done the soft close retrofit to my Avant and to be honest its not what i thought it was; you can still slam the doors as normal rendering the soft close useless. Only works when you have the hands of a fly and cant close the doors fully when the soft close feature will pull the door closed for you.
Oh well, for what it cost me im bot going to complain, besides its another item ticked off on the list of retrofits to be done

Yeah, slamming it still slams it. My goal would be for my daughter to exit the car and gently "almost" close the door and then allow the mechanism to take it from there, vs her current practice of trying to launch it through the car and out the other door.

I think if you can teach her that then im sure you could just as easily teach not to slam it. TBH adults are just as bad.
I had a 2015 for a few days and that needed a good wack to close the doors where as my 2012 was much easier read slammable to close.

yeah i still find myself slamming my door every now and then.

it's only the most usefull when your hands are full and you just need to pivot the door close enough for them to close and then it gets sucked in.

    NOTHING like the MB softclose.
