Audi Rust Policy Just Some BS?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I've got preforated rust on my trunk and near the back wheels and today AOC rejected it. They say it's not preforated rust and giving me the 70/30 crap.

It's clearly preforated, rust coming in from the inside out. If this isn't covered, I don't know what the hell is. I'm so pissed off right now, been trying for a year.

Makes me never want to buy an Audi again, BMW has way better service.

So you have holes all the way through the metal in multiple spots? And what is 70/30?

I don't have holes but the rust is coming from the inside out. They want to cover 70% and I have to pay the other 30%.

My brother's BMW had the same thing on his door. It was replaced within a month, no bs from them.

That 30% is a lot still, not worth it. 8 or 10 years old car doesn't make a difference, they have a 12 year warranty...

My BMW had 0 rust and that was 10 years old too.

If you don't have holes, it's not perforated. That is what perforated means.

Yea it's really not. I'm not trying to be a dink. Should they do you a favor on a 10 year old car? I dunno. But you gotta have a hole before it's a perforation.

Yeah no physical hole, no dice. I tried at two dealerships and went to AoA. But lucky me (sorta) I'm getting my bumper and trunk fixed via insurance and the shop is gonna grind the rust on my rear quarter away and paint that too for my $500 deductible

    How's the other side?

edit: sorry for the thread jack. Yes, their rust protection is a joke. My understanding is it basically has to rust all the way through, from the inside? And they will try to tell you how it is somehow your fault.

I've just had some work done under the rust warranty (replaced driver's side fender, painted driver's side quarter panel, replaced hatch, declined driver's side back door). The 70/30% thing means that they approved it otherwise you'd be paying all of it. If the car is over something like six years old they cover 70% rather than 100%.

Not to be redundant, so you're saying that regardless if it's "perforated" they'll only cover 70 percent after six years?

I just looked at my paperwork and the cutoff for 100% coverage is seven years, at that point it drops to 70% coverage.

Which dealer did you go to? Prestige on the Met and you dealt with Roberto? At 70/30 you're better off paying a good shop to fix it, it will still be cheaper than their 30%.

I.E. : They wanted to charge me 30% to replace and paint my front fender (That they replaced and painted 14 months before) and the 30% came out to 480$. If I buy an oem fender fro 200$ and have a bodyshop paint it, it will come out 80$ cheaper.

That's crazy! I had a fender replaced, hatch replaced, and quarter panel painted and my total was approximately the same as what you were quoted for just the fender. Are you sure $480 wasn't 100% of the cost?

No, 480$cad was 30% of the cost. They did my quarters 3 times and I showed him the fender was flaking after 14 months and since I was outside of the 12 month dealer guarantee they offered the 30/70. I choked on my coffee when he told me how much it was. Yes, 1600$cad to replace and paint a front fender...

So that's about $1,200 USD. I'm thinking that's more like $600-700 where I am. A factory fender alone is a bit over $300 USD.

I get an oem fender for 200$cad since a friend works the parts desk at a local vw dealer. Then I have another friend who pwns a bodyshop who would paint it with zinc primer and an high end water based paint for another 200$. I would just have to install it myself.

No way I would of paid that, they probably did it on purpose since it was the third time I came back for the shady job on the quarters.

Had a BMW last year, they replaced the door completely because it had a small bubble of rust. That was 10 years old too and I didn't have to deal with any crap Audi is giving me.

30% for my car comes to about $1600 CAD. Can have someone else do it for 1/4 of that price.

As much as I like Audi, I never want to own another one because of this.

I think the reality is the dealership has you pay for all the work with your 30% and the 70% they get back from corporate goes right in their pocket. Quite the scam .

But I do have to confess , I took my 2000 C5 in for delaminating paint and rust after almost ten years and they replaced the front left fender, the drivers door skin , all the door blades and painted the entire bottom of the car . Zero cost to me .

I think that was the first generation of water born 2K paints and this was a recognized issue however. I was pleased though .

5 people in my family got audi. My cousin's working at audi.
I know a director as well because it's my father's client.

From the director told me : You have to get out of bed early to get your repair under warranty.

Or use contacts. Just like Axis.

They have a list of condition, and at the end your car need to be perfect to get this repair, which is a paradox.

Mine got a rear door changed ( huge scratch, no impact) and they remove the whole car from the policy.
I need to use my contact to get out from this BS.

Right now, I have a little spot ( on the OEM panel), they told me it's not the time to repair. No perforation yet.
But again, this is sad that I had to use my cousin and father (at my age daddy help me again ) to make them move.

So to answer to your question, in Qc , yes this is BS.

Looking for professional jobs in healthcare. I've been working in a hospital for a little over 2 years where I am now. I'd like to end up in one in Chicago as well, doing process improvement or operations. Who knows, I'm so early in my career.

I share similar experience with BMW dealership. Rust bubble at the bottom of the trunk. 100% covered on 12 years old E46. Never dealt with Audi dealership on rust though, so I dont have anything to compare with.
But for some reason, I do not like audi dealership salesmen. When I was looking for B7, I did go to a couple of them. Too pushy and always rushing. One had even balls to say, if you dont buy this car today, I wont be able to give you this price tomorrow. I said thanks and walked out. Never stepping into that audi dealership again. Not an experience that I share with BMW dealership. They were; go take a test drive and we will talk about the money later. Of course it depends on person to person and dealership to dealership, but I have had good expeirences at landrover/jaguar dealership and BMW dealership. Cant say the same about audi dealership, at least the ones I visited.
Good luck with your issue man. I am planning to unload the B7 within 2 years and get a 5 series AWD for daily duty.

Mec. How is it going? After you said you are eyeing a porsche, I started comparing xk with porsche. Completely different cars but now I am debating. When is the next beer day at Asburys?

Keep me posted. I know of a very nice rub and tug in Chicago looking to hire new eager recruits

Yah. I am debating on out out and fast car and a GT coupe. I have a soft spot for big v8 RWD jag. Had an stype and it was awesome apart from too soft suspension.

I switched jobs and only time I get is weekend. And too much random shit to deal with on the weekends. We will get together soon my friend But it will definitely have to be on the weekends though.
