    Inst cluster bad?

While I was out of town a couple weeks ago, I shipped my inst cluster to Tom @ SpeedometerSolutions. Got back a color DIS. Much easier to read.

However, 2 or 3 times since then, at starting the car my avg fuel consumption is reset to 0. Happened this morning, and at the same time my Service! thing came on, despite the fact I just reset the entire SRI in VCDS two days ago. In fact I've had to reset the Service notice to 0 3 times too. I'm beginning to connect the two events and will watch more closely.

No codes in VCDS. Clock doesn't reset and I don't see the sort of Terminal 30 voltage error you'd expect if I was losing power.

Anyone seen this one or have any ideas?

Might want to make sure the cluster connectors are fully seated in the back.

I did confirm that. Tom saw this and already offered to clone another for me. I'd like to see it happen again. Every explanation I can come up with would leave an error in some module.

Tom thinks its weird too, going to send it back and swap for another. This time I still have my old red DIS cluster so can at least keep driving.

Long story short, it was the cluster. Just got a weird one. The story is more complicated than that, but I can't say enough about Tom's customer service. Instead of hoping up and down about how I unfair it all was (resisting Trump comparison here) I just kept sending him data while he sent me a new cluster.

Tom was great, and that's a nice upgrade. I got tired of looking under my sunglasses to see the DIS. Don't have to any more!
