:: ECS Tuning :: NEW!! Ultimate Oil Pan Protection Packages | Audi 8V A3/S3

Audi cast aluminum oil pans have a glass jaw that shatters on impact. Installing another is just asking for a repeat performance.

The belly pans provided for modern Audi models have always appeared to be under-engineered, out of place, cost-cutting parts.

Many enthusiasts have chosen to run their cars without this protective cover entirely. This decision, however, ignores the unfortunate reality that the belly pan protects several critical engine and drivetrain components.

ECS Street Shield Aluminum Skid Plate and the stamped steel oil pan replacement both available in one kit!

What's the weight on the oil pan? Maybe I should have waited and done just that instead of the street shield.

I would also like to know the weight.

Also, what is the rationale behind having both? Seems like one or the other would do the trick.

    Oil pan weighs 4lbs.

Even steel oil pans can get damaged, though stronger than aluminum, it's still possible to damage it. The street shield offers even more protection and you don't have to worry about the flimsy OEM plastic piece getting destroyed. On every Audi I've owned at least some part of the factory belly pan has cracked or ripped apart. Wont have that issue with 3/16" 5052 Aluminum.

Damn, 4lbs vs the 11lbs of the street shield. I might have to sell the street shield and get the oil pan instead. Decisions decisions.

If you sell the shield let me know, I'd be interested.

I haven't even installed it yet. Hell I haven't even opened the packaging it arrived in. The only reason I might end up keeping it is the hassle in shipping something so large. I'll think it over and let you know if I decide to sell it.

To be honest you wouldn't even notice the difference in weight by only going with the steel oil pan. As I mentioned before plastic belly pans can easily get destroyed, Aluminum is much much more durable in the long run.
