Injectors that is. My car has about 96k on it. These injectors are filthy! Going to have the flow tested and cleaned @RC Engineering here in SoCal. Eager to see what they are flowing before and after clean.

    What supercharger?! lol

I'll be interested to see the results of the clean, FSi injectors don't normally suffer like traditional injectors do.

Just got my injectors back. 4 were dripping with one very low. They were 26% difference between them before cleaning. Now, 1.1% with no issues.

Eager to see how much of a difference it will be.

I know! I think there has been fueling issues for a while. I've basically changed out or cleaned my entire fuel system: replaced the LPFP, HPFP, fuel filter, now the fuel injectors, all the sensors have been changed, swapping out the fuel pressure relief valves too!

Does this mean you are keeping the RS4?

Nope. I'm 99% sure it'll be going to another good owner.

I just can't believe how much I've had to swap out.

And there's that 1% chance that after I drive it again I'll change my mind lol

The new lucky owner. I wish my PO did all that.

Yeah I would say any RS4 over 80k miles is a prime candidate for injector cleaning or replacement. Every person here and on AR that has had them flow tested and cleaned has shown significant delta in the injector flow pattern and/or flow rate of at least two injectors. I suspect a lot of difficult to diagnose driveability and performance problems people have had over the years on these cars can be attributed to poorly flowing injectors.

It's odd, mine at 89K had great flow numbers via VCDS, but I'm curious if I should have them pulled.....

It would be a good thing to do next time you're in for a carbon clean. No sense in doing unnecessary maintenance unless you have reason to suspect the injectors are causing problems.

Injectors are definitely on my list in the very near future. They do not show signs but I am sure they are in need of a good cleaning or replacement. I'm just debating on whether or not buying a new set vs. cleaning is the right route.

No, of course not, the next CC would be when I do it, and considering I had one done about 9K miles ago, I'm not in any rush. Car runs like a top.

For reference, my VCDS values on injector flow: Bank 1: -2.0%, -1.2% Bank 2: -1.4%, -2.0%

I had good numbers too when logging. I was trying to run down some fueling issues and couldn't figure out what it was. Car still was strong, but not at what I expected based on the the AMD runs. With 80k at the install, the injectors had to be dirty. 4 of the 8 were dripping, with cyl 6 the lowest.

As Komseh noted, getting them cleaned would be recommended, say at 80k or maybe even every other carbon clean. The process of removing injectors and sending to be cleaned wasn't bad. If people decide to go aftermarket injector, definitely get it flow matched with the rest. Heard of several horror stories.

I'd probably just buy 8 new ones @ $500, it's not a lot of coin. Are they flow matched when all new?

You have to have them flow tested, particularly the aftermarket ones. Even though they are Hitachi, there can still be tolerance differences (at least from what I've read). $200 to flow test, plus $500 is much cheaper than $120-150 per injector.

Well this throws a wrench into my one stop shopping hopefulness. I assume most shops can't do this themselves? I can't believe new parts need to be flow tested, that just seems counter intuitive etc etc... Thanks for the info though

I think if you got the stock injectors, you won't need to flow test. People have found variances in the hitachi one. An example of oem vs oem manufacturer difference was in my MAF. I bought an oem manufacturer part and made my car run like sh*t. Bought OEM, no issues. MAF is easy to swap, injectors would be a pain if one or more didn't meet specs.

Right, would def go OEM, I don't play like that unless proven otherwise.
