Ummm...well which ones specifically? All of them? I was quoted $550 (labor) to change ALL my front control arms and tie rods. I had bought the FCP complete kit for under $300. I ended up doing it all myself. Sounds a little high. I would ask which ones need replacing. Might not be that bad.

Good for them, Theres like 6 million other questions relating to ball joints that you need to look into and ask your mechanic. We cant help you with shit based on them being cracked. Which doesn't even mean that they are bad fyi. Sounds like youre getting fucked with no lube

What in the Wide Wide World of sports is going on here? I came here to find out what I should do about my car. Not get dry docked by a bunch of Kansas City ******s!

C'mon OP! You've been here six years and 3 rings, you should know better than to take a shit and not wipe your ass. Give us as much info about your car and what the mechanic said it needed.

Edit: D'oh! They blocked out f-a-g-g-o-t

I was out of town and my roommate actually brought my car to get the tires rotated. I do not have the additional info - that is what was passed along to me..... which is why I was asking. I've tried to call them and get more information about what was wrong, but haven't got a call back from the mechanic yet.

Your mechanic sounds shady. I wouldnt worry about it. So them when you do your upper arms. Leave it at that

Dude! Tell us about your car: what year is it, the miles, the maintenance history if known. Is it stock or lowered? Yada Yada Yada

For $600, my guess is that he wants to replace two control arms plus labor because the rubber boots have dried out and split. If that's the case you have [I]some[I] time to make a decision. If it was something else you would know it by how the car drives and more than likely you would hear it knocking.

It has been my experience with these cars, having had 5 Audi's in the last 16 years, that when one goes, the rest are sure to follow. For a few hundred dollars more, you can replace the front end and not get nickel'd and dimed replacing a part here and there. Help us help you.

For one, him calling what are likely your tie rods "ball joints" means he's probably not super Audi savvy.

Also $600 to swap tie rods sounds like 2-3x more than it should cost.

2008 audi a4 2.0t black stock everything about 115000 miles on it. I do notice sometimes I hear a knocking and it feels like the car is "pulling" when slowing down to a complete stop

    Awesome! Now we're getting somewhere.

Still stock and 115k on her, I would strongly consider doing a complete front end replacement including inner and outer tie rods. A worn out suspension can cause the pulling while braking but be sure to have the brake calipers looked at to make sure that one of them is not stuck or frozen.

I think FCP is still having a sale or group buy or something. Let us know what the mechanic said.
